Why we will win the league!

It's going to be a very close thing.

We cannot continue to drop points against weak sides. Another hiccup, and I fear we're done.

VVD, I think, is key to Liverpool's defense - if he's out for an extended period then I like our chances. If not... we probably have to run the table to stand a chance.

We're more than a game behind - we're dropping points against bad sides - we have the tougher run in - games are running out... I really hope we win the title. But it's looking iffy at best.

I am not naive enough not to admit that i would currently rather be in their position than ours, but there are definitely reasons to be optimistic;

Firstly, we can get the gap down to two points if we beat Arsenal and Everton, regardless of what they do at West Ham. If we can do that the pressure will increase on them!
Secondly, despite that loss to Newcastle during the 4 games in January we closed the gap on them from 7 down to 5. There are 5 games in February, if we could have a similar gain and get the gap down to 2-3 points that will ramp up the pressure as well!
Thirdly, of the seven seasons from 11/12 to 17/18, if you look at the points gained from game week 24 to the end of the season we have gained more than 5 points compared to Liverpool during 3 of the 7 seasons.

I know that what has happened in the past doesn't necessarily have any bearing on what will happen this season, but it is reason to be optimistic, and certainly enough reason to get everyone up for this weekends game and make sure we get the 3 points against Arsenal.

There's everything to play for still. I remember a run of about 5 years where Arsenal were 1st or a close second until Jan / Feb every season and then just collapsed to 4th every time because of the pressure. I don't think Liverpool will fall apart to that extent, but they'll lose games. The best part is that they went through a spell where every decision, rebound, deflection and mistake going for them but I've noticed the worm turning a little. That almost goal against us and then a penalty they didn't get last night.. a key player or two getting injured... there's a long way to go yet.

LOL I am hearing about Utd fans going to the City games coming up to support us! So many people just dont want Liverpool to win.

And I agree! I lived through it before and it spawned a whole generation of scouseness, I would rather Utd win it than LFC. Apologies guys!

NO Them bastards took great delight in our demise while they were winning everything. I couldn’t and wouldn’t want them to win fuck all.

Relieved the red bin dippers dropped points tonight, but after the three particular losses against Palace. Leicester and Newcastle, I just don't trust our team to not drop other clangers and fail to make up the gap in points.

Even more galling when we've seen previous City teams come from behind to win titles, I just don't feel the same confidence with this team right now, we always seem likely to concede a goal to any half decent opposition, which is worrying.
I think the way we work is crush the opposition by the first 30/45 mins... Score 1 or 2 goals and be solid in defence, then the other team are beaten. So, for me, its the attack that need to be getting results more than relying on defence.

Nt only that, I think we're 2nd best for goals conceded this season, and just 1 more than this time last season.

It's the attacking that needs to produce imo

They will bottle it if we put a run together, they have had ridiculous luck so far, that won't last. The state of their crowd last night, their arse's had gone and we aren't even at the business end yet.

I have a dipper fan who works for me, god knows how I haven’t yet sacked the fucker, but quelle surprise, he’d eaten the Scouse/Klopp handbook again this morning - all the ref’s fault, “should have been a penalty, Maguire should have had a red” blah blah blah. I pointed out how many shit pens they get and could he show me many times a defender gets red for a foul on half way line, and then about Leicester’s missed chances. Just went quiet the soft twat.

They will drop some points not much too. Problem is we arent that consistent. We will drop points too.

For me the acid test is if we reach or go above 90 points. If yes I will be disappointed but wont be angry losing the title. But if are miserable from now to the end and end up only with 85-88 points or less meaning from possible maximum 42 we get only 30ish, thats not much of a title race for us in the end. Liverpool will be above 90 for sure. Their maximum is still 103. Imo they may lose 1 game and draw 2 or 3. Rest they can win. 95 points imo is a realistic target for them. With no FA Cup, no tiredness from Carabao and if they lose to Bayern then no CL as well. In that case they could go above 95.

Our maximum is 98 points but that would take 14 straight wins. Some of the dross displays vs Palace, Leicester, Newcastle when we throw away leads and then cant even get fucking draws out of it makes it hard to imagine we win 14 straight.

If you cant win at least get a draw. Liverpool did it yesterday or remember at Chelsea away they were 1-0 down and last minute magic goal from Sturridge saved them a point.
We on the other hand Newcastle away, Palace at home we didnt even look like taking the lead 2nd time after they came back. Reacting to bad match situations instantly is just something we dont handle well. The fear that all the opponent needs is one shot on target to score a goal must have installed fear in our players imo. While we need to waste usually 3-4 good chances and shots to score one.

Deliberately held off knowing the result at Anfield until I got up this morning. I thought, what will be will be, get a good night's sleep. Must admit, in my mind I had it 80% for a Liverpool win, 15% a draw, 5% a Leicester win.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if Liverpool were not beaten again this season. That we beat them is the measure of how good we can be (we know how bad we can be, after Tuesday night). But, you see: they will get draws, both home and away. At seven points I was starting to feel it was beyond us, but five points is just about doable if all the stars align. No more fuck-ups. We've got to win about ten in a row. That, this team can do.But it's not in our hands any more, the dippers have got to drop points. I have always believed that they would, although God knows it's coming late on. Above all, their injury record is eerie. It's like Leicester's three years ago. We've been given a lifeline. Let's start by putting Arsenal to the sword.

I think our next 3 games will go a long way in deciding our fate.
Sorry Teacher

We need to keep trying until it is mathematically impossible. I just don't believe it is going to happen, unless Liverpool catastrophically collapse.
