I always wondered why the significance of York away 1998 being mentioned as a mark of loyalty. To me it should be the Northampton game as City only received around 800 tickets. At York we received a lot more than that.

I had an old Uni friend who lived just outside Northampton and he allowed me to use his address and I rang Northampton up and explained that I worked at a language school in Northampton and that 6 Japanese students wanted to watch the game.
''So they are students'' came the reply, and on telling them that they were, he said I could buy kids priced tickets and gave us family stand tickets.
Ordered the tickets there on the spot and they were sent to my mates house!

On the day, 6 slightly tipsy blokes in their 30's turn up and sat on the front row of the family stand!

As for York, yes it was a milestone game... the last we lost until Oldham & Wycombe late on in the season. I even rang Jimmy Wagg up on the way home and said Royle should be sacked..... (I did ring back around March and apologise lol)
But in terms of loyalty...... the question for me is... ''where were you at Northampton'' ;)

I was ........ biggest ever attendance at Sixfields that ........ you could even watch the game from the embankment corner behind the goal next to the retail park.......... if i remember rightly did we equalise in the last few minutes ???

Yes. Goater made it 2-2. I think it was part of a sequence of 4 successive away league games where we scored late or last-minute equalisers or winners:

Notts County away 1-1 - Goater
Macc away 1-0 - Goater
Northampton away 2-2 - Goater
Millwall away 1-1 - Bradbury

Bugger!!!!!!!!
I only did four out of the 5 - After missing Northampton I'll have to re classify myself back down to 'a big blue' from 'loyal blue'

Where were you when we were shit??? Glory hunter!!!!

I was at both games and don't see the significance of either to be honest. Personally Stockport, macc and bury were personal nightmares and gillingham away was the hardest to get tickets for.

I met people at Gillingham with tickets hot off the inkjet printer, but your right - they were harder to come by the the one sided, black and white Wigan tickets that were hot off the photocopier!!!!!

If remember rightly some fans at the Wigan game's didn't even need tickets ............. they climbed the back fence and dived over as there was an embankment behind that shit away end.

Definitely happened for the play off game, I was in the posh seats, well seats anyway for the league. my mate was on the terrace, he states the high tech security system at Wigan was for a copper to tell you your ticket was a forgery and watch your reaction.. f off, I got it from the ticket office was sufficient to be let through

Darlo away was one cold trip
Friday night in early December
Dickov signed my daughter's program before the game started and then came off the sub's bench to get the equaliser
went the weirdest route imaginable over the moors from deepest rossendale
It was freezing that night. Some lads had their tops off must have been mental, certainly one of the coldest games ive been to another being sheff utd away a few years back.

Chelsea away on a Monday night. About 200 of us standing in the old north stand. 1st season of Sky (I think). Or 'Boro away a couple of seasons back are the coldest I've ever been. Fucking freezing.

Boro was horrendously cold remember the big announcement that the M62 was open cue all the blues singing 'were all going home' but Copenhagen away in the Europa league absolutely took the biscuit for freezing coldness I think I had about 6 layers on that night as well as hat, scarf, gloves, 3 pairs of socks still felt like I was going to get hypothermia at any point!!!

I only did Northampton and Millwall.

'wall was ridiculous. Remember walking in to the Music Cafe next to London Bridge with 4 other lads to be confronted by 30 of Millwalls Nutty Turn Out (apparently there was 200 there 10 mins earlier) baying for blood. Knew one of them from Englad away France 98 and got some sort of VIP escort to the ground by them, confused the police no end.......that was a very lucky let off.
