Wigan Vs City Post Match Discussion thread

Personally I thought Savic was better than Lescott tonight, Lescott's air shot and several other errors worried me. You'd be unlikely to see him make so many mistakes alongside Kompany which suggests to me he isn't comfortable in the role of leader.

Savic did just fine today, albeit not against the best forward line but games like this will give him important experience. All this talk of Samba but I believe we should do with what we have as Kompany and Kolo will be back soon enough, and target a Grade A centre-back in summer so that we have two titans next to each other (like Lucio and Samuel have been for Inter when Inter have been at their best, ie. their titanic display against Barcelona in the Champions League two years back).

Then next season send Savic on loan to a PL club as many will offer him first team football and we can have a main four of Kompany, new signing, Lescott, and Kolo. Plenty of experience and the new signing will be younger. The season after next will probably then be the time to move Kolo on, giving Savic his spot back.

We're getting closer and closer to having a jaw-dropping team/squad but I still feel we're a couple of signings short of that and don't think this is the time for the owners to turn off the taps completely on spending.

I would agree we are definately missing a Bale - Lennon - Valencia type person we must start playing with a higher tempo because the style of football currently being played will not win us the title.
We're top now and have been playing all season without them, so that's illogical

Just come on, so not read all the posts. However, can Bobby please stop waving the fucking imaginary red card. I know he's still feeling hard done by with the Kompany sending off, but he's doing the club no favours with his antics. Yes, the bloke should have gone, and God only knows what the referee was thinking, but stop waving the card - I believe he has more class.

I have no understanding of why people take offence at this. I don't see it being any different than asking for a penalty. People need to get a grip and stop listening to the media's every desperate whine about Bobby and the club generally,

Thought the lads ran theier socks off tonight and battled an ugly win.
We can all see it in front of us and until Vinnie and Yaya are back in place we will lack confidence, but the spirit we showed tonight will drag us through this spell.
Milner was a great example, tonight nothing came off but he kept his head up and battled.

Great result.

Great 3 points gives us a great great chance to kill spurs off Sunday. Silva said they will battle every game like a final to win the leauge well pablo silva sergio Barry milner played so well

True, Milner especially, he can give the ball away all night yet his head won't drop, he keeps running and gets himself in the way of everything hence the reason he never gets brought off.

Re: Now it's our turn.

I was expecting a full blooded verbal assault aimed at spuds, rags, dippers, gunners and any other haters.

credit to wigan, great effort. I hope liverpool and spurs didnt notice that you have a better chance against us if you actually try to play football and not sit back off us

the pitch was a bit rubbish...and silva still coming back from injury, Dzeko is still not 100%...

he shouldn't have nicked that ball off Aguero, although I don't thing Aguero would have gotten the shot away before running into Edin...

good win

German commentator asked (rhetorically) whether Kun "knows he doesn't need to dribble past his own attacking partner" and blamed it on his selfishness - and it seemed to me that everyone would react like Dzeko, and it's not fair how media crucified him afterwards for ruining (Kuns) "magical slalom", despite the fact he actually scored a impressive header...

Most important is that both of them are cool and soon after the "magical slalom", Aguero fed Dzeko, which worked like a charm, unfortunately this keeper was pretty much on every ball tonight...
