Interesting little snippet from a mate who knows a man

This man is saying that Bony to us is done and dusted already

I'm using a disclaimer as this is third hand information but the 'man' currently works at City

Don't slap the messenger ;-)

Thanks for the info mate.

Thanks for that bud. Bony for me would only be a stop gap but if the club want him then who am i to question.

I reckon Bony in the right team would be phenomenal personally

If it really is true I think he would do very well at City

Bony would be more than a stop gap, we would be spending at least 20m-25m to get him if this link is true.

I'd say Bony is the kind of striker who suits our style even better than Dzeko.
Too good to play third or even fourth fiddle, so I'm guessing Dzeko to Germany in the summer? Or Jovetic back to Italy maybe? I don't think both of them will stay here with us beyond this summer if we sign Bony this january.

He can play for us in the Champions League as well which is encouraging.

I just hope if this is true Swansea don't take us to the cleaners in regards to a fee, the January market for players being bought and sold between two Premier League clubs can get really silly as we have seen in recent years, so for me anything quoted above £20-£25m is an absolute no go in my opinion.

Just 26 years old (D.O.B. 10.12.88). Good age with experience.

Swansea paid £12m for him in July 2013 from Vitesse in Holland. I would be surprised if City got him for less than £20m unless we can bring Sinclair into the equation.

23 Goals in 46 Premier League games for Swansea. Good in the air and can score with both feet. Will bring competition in the forward line, if he signs.

A downside would him being off to The Africa Cup of Nations with Yaya I guess (17 Jan - 8 Feb 2015). To be played in Equatorial Guinea

Good that he would be available for Champions League though this season, whose place would he take in the squad?

Interesting news if it comes off....if it doesn't some of the smacked arses on here will burn you ;)

Great player and I'd love him here, but I suspect we won't be able to clinch him in January due to

1. Lack of funds
2. Swansea won't sell
3. Other clubs with more available cash are more desperate.
4. He is bound to be mercenary in his decision.
5. Buy the time we could buy him our forwards will be fit and Bony will be off to ACN pre training camp. Yaya didn't even make the 3rd round of the FA Cup in 2012!

Nice idea but it ain't happening.

So who else can we fantasise about?

It's a laughable statement

I'm telling you now with near certainty, especially all those pining for Bony.. He won't play every week, he won't work well with rotation, he'll end up looking much rustier than his time at Swansea because he's only playing half the minutes and you'll all be pulling your hair out that he isn't good enough. We'll then jump on the usual merry go round of trying to shift him on to make way for someone worthwhile but struggling because we've offered him too much money and he 'wants to stay and fight for his place'. Not to mention given everyones situation he'll be heinously overpriced.

Although I think its highly unlikely we would go for Bony, unless there was a summer deal lined up whereby Dzeko goes back to Germany, I think your comments are totally out of order. Have you any evidence that Bony would behave in this way? Perhaps the truth is that he would be better managed at a club like City where no player is an automatic selection, and he would expect to be primed for higher performance levels with higher bonuses when selected which is something that a better focussed individual in this game should be all about. And besides, why should any player want to play for a poor to middling club and for a relatively modest wage, knowing that every second game could end with him being targeted by opposition kickers for being that clubs star name, and with his team getting booed off at the end? This is a realistic scenario for any team in the bottom half of the table. Why should he prefer that to a club like City where he will be a near certainty to pick up medals and international celebrity status to add to his substantially increased income. As I say, I don't expect us to sign Bony, but these remarks of mine are valid to aim at any player, unlike yours which may have been plucked out of RagCafe.
