Some of the revisionism on this thread is of Champions League quality.

Apparently City were short-sighted selling Negredo, despite the fact he would not be available until the end of November with a broken foot?

And it would be equally short-sighted to buy a better player in Bony because he will not be available for the next month?

They are talking £20m upwards for the kid Berahino at West Brom.

Bony is the best available striker of his price in all of Europe at present.

Mandzukic for me TH, would be perfect for us

Unavailable and struggled to adapt to Bayern Munich style of play and may not be too happy not being first choice.

He did not have problems to adapt to the Bayern style - for Heynckes he was perfect. Guardiola is special...

Mandzukic is a very lazy player, like Lewandowski. You have to do all the work for them, we need an attacker who can spin gold out of garbage, someone in the mould of Negredo and I think Bony fits the bill.

Swansea would be desperately looking for an attacker in the coming weeks as Gomis might also leave. I think we could get this deal down to 18million if we throw in Guidetti and Sinclair.

Who's to say Swansea would want them 2? Also how much are you valuing guidetti and sinclair at???

The calendar year makes no difference

We play from August to May

He is a 1 in 2 striker over his career and has a better goals per game ratio than Dzeko. Highest scorer in 2014. Powerful, athletic and can find a pass. You say he is a carthorse. Actually you said he is a carthourse whatever that is.

You are talking absolute bollocks.

Not worth 30mil!

Will he be able to improve to a level where we can flog him for 60mil or help us win the Champs League?
I'd say no to both, so I don't see the need/reason to buy him

And his career is has spanned 18months in England and a few years in Holland where Samaras manged to score

He's obviously better than Samaras but not worth buying as long as Dzecko is here and certainly not worth 30mil

Utter Tosh. We don't necessarily buy for investment purposes, we buy to improve. Edin hasn't shown good form this season and to be honest, we don't know which Edin will turn up when he is playing.

Jojo is not an out and out striker, and whist he has a goal or two in him, you cannot score too many from the treatment table.

Bony is currently pound for pound one of the best strikers in the PL, but you cannot accept that, so your view is to dismiss him.

As I said, utter tosh

You Sir, do not know Mandzukic!

I would take 4million for Guidetti and 1million for Sinclair.

We should offer BOGOF for those 2 :)

You should visit the Mandzukic thread on Bayern forum :

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.bayernforum.com/personnel-f8/mario-mandzukic-t8340-1170.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bayernforum.com/personnel-f8 ... -1170.html</a>

The fans were never impressed with his performance.

so was fernandinho worth 30m? A player who played in Ukraine and no one had seen before?

We didn't have a player to do the job Fernandinho does at the time. We have 3 top strikers at the moment(fitness depending). Surely we won't buy him to sit on the bench because I'd have all 3 of ours over him, especially at the price quoted

No we don't. Jovetic has done nothing yet to suggest he's anywhere approaching a top striker. He's got it all to do as far I'm concerned.

Also, although you've said 'fitness depending' the truth is that the injury records of Kun and Jovetic make a 4th striker a necessity.

The fears many raised when Negredo was allowed to leave have been realised over the last few weeks. I can't understand why, having seen us have to play without a striker for a month, there are some who still reject the idea of us needing a 4th striker.

If we need to pay £30 Mil to get him so be it. We need a high quality, reliable, durable, proven goal scorer. He fits the bill.
