Will we ever ultimately slay the RAG Empire?

Don't be despondent and pissed-off Matt.

Delight in the fact that we are competing at the top table domestically and will continue to do so, whilst progressing to do likewise on the European stage in time.

Slaying the red devil is not the goal and not the way in which we gauge our success.

It's silverware. FA Cup winners, Premier League Champions, Charity Shield winners and a decent chance of repeating our FA Cup success of 2011 again this year.

Imagine how that list would look to a Gooner, or a Liverpool fan, or a Spurs fan etc.

Despondent and pissed-off? This is a time of great joy for every City fan alive, and nothing the rags do can alter that.

I agree with all of that. Last night didn't irritate me as much as it would have done in the past, because we now have a great team, a cup final to look forward to, and a summer where we could sign some top draw players. Don't let United winning the title sour it, this is the best time to be a City fan at the moment. Yes, it hurts seeing them reclaim the title, and not making a better effort to defend it, but we're going nowhere. This is only the beginning. Look at the plans in place, regarding the academy and so on, makes an absolute mockery of the "Arabs will get bored" rubbish. The best is still to come. If this is the starter, then I can't wait for the main course.

That's just how I feel too. The red empire will be there or thereabouts for some years but we will be winning more trophies than them. Much as we all hate them, it is more satisfying to jockey with a strong rival than (as they did this season) walk it against little opposition.

They've been hitting us with a sledgehammer over the years. Last season, when we won the title was only a pinprick... That went straight through their hearts.

Ladies & Gentlemen, they felt the tip of a very long sword, and probably still feeling it now. The best is yet to come.

Now that folks, is a fucking brilliant post.

eventually but sadly i dont think it will be in my life time, and im 22... we need to build a foundation right through to the roots of our academy and build from there like bacon face has done... we need someone to tie up loose ends and not afraid to make decisions

Every great empire eventually falls.

The truth is, we wont in it every year. The league is much more competitive now and next year it will be even more so, not just 2 teams in it anymore. I honestly do not think we are that far away from them finishing 4th place

We might and we might not.

Two things concern me greatly. The first is that a short while ago we used to have threads and posts on here all the time about the terrible state of their Financial position and these seem to have stopped.

My other point of worry is that the younger players in United's squad such as Jones,Smalling,Rafael,Cleverly,De Gea are all really good Footballers and will be for a long time. This is an issue where most City supporters including some of our finest Forum Posters simply refuse to accept the evidence before their eyes.

We can however look forward to the departure of their Manager, sooner rather than later and potentially disruption of the Club on a massive scale.

Also, we are certainly here to stay and even if we cant dominate and slay the Rag Empire we can certainly drag them into a viscious and costly 100 year War where we shall more than hold our corner.

With him in charge, finish higher than Utd and you will win the PL.
Its how they cope after he has gone, when the rest of football hope that they get the same treatment as everyone else as refs are no longer afraid of him.

That's when hopefully they will lose the 10-15 points a year they are given. I mean look at this season, 2 tough away games at Chelsea and Pool and being overrun In both and all of a sudden shocking match turning incidents awarded in their favour. Yellow cards not being dished out when they should so they don't lose players to suspensions like the rest (Last night was a typical example. Giggs was late in a lunge, nailed on yellow card and the ref has a laugh with him and no card produced).
When was the last time they had a penalty given against them?
When was the last time they had a red card?
Answers itself really. So long ago no one can remember.

So until he has gone, they will always be challenging but he cant carry on forever

Not to mention the decisions against their opposition which massively favours them. Sending offs at vital times, stone wall penalties waved away etc.
I agree once the old piss can does go that advantage goes with it.
And deep down I actually think some of them realise it.
