Wolves (A) Post Match Thread

WE WILL NEED TO STEP UP NOW, TOO MANY PASSES GOING ASTAY AND MENDY NEEDS TO PUT A SHIFT IN, HIS TRACKING BACK WAS SHIT, WHEN THE WOLVES PLAYER WENT DOWN THE LEFT, ALL MENDY DID WAS KEEP RUNNING BACKWARDS AND NOT PUTTING A FOOT IN, SAID WOLVES PLAYER WENT ROUND HIM AND PUT A DECENT CROSS IN

Sane leaving 3 wolves players for dead should be rembered by Pep, not the lose play before it. Get him in next week and get his mojo back.

Totally agree.

Young players will always have hot and cold periods and Pep won't have been happy with his sloppy passing and crap corner, but the upside is that he causes panic and fear in opponents.

Bernardo is nice and tidy but the current whole set-up seems to upset the balance because of us accommodating Mendy.

No doubt Benjamin is a wonderful crosser of a ball but he ain't scoring 15 goals like Leroy did last season, so where will they come from, unless people are saying Sergio is going to score 45 this campaign!!

And Leroy was only one behind KDB in assists also!

If Mendy continues to stick a token leg out he will not only concede a few penalties this season, but will also likely suffer another cruciate knee injury.

He's either tackling from the wrong side, standing square on or retreating back towards his own penalty area.

One weakness has been particularly exposed in a couple of our games so far against Arsenal and Wolves.

Mendy has been unaware of a player behind him on a flighted angle ball and both Bellerin and the lad yesterday, were able to bring the ball down and take him with ease before getting a shot off inside the penalty area.

Another area of major concern for me is that while I love Bernardo, he's taking a proper attacker out of the side with flank pace, which seems to expose Walker even more.

Again, Mendy on the other side is taking Sane or Mahrez out of the starting eleven.

Pep said this new formation is bringing rewards because we are creating more chances against teams behind the ball, but we always found a way last season, nine times out of ten.

This present set-up takes attacking pace out of the team in the boxes and there is less of a fear factor for our opponents when they see Sane and Sterling are not playing from the start.

Let's get back to what made us so successful, Pep can overthink things at times, case in point being Liverpool away in Champions League last year?

Personally, would like to see Mahrez moved into the number ten, with Sane and Sterling either side of Sergio, with Dave sitting deeper alongside Fern.

Means nothing now, obviously, but Mahrez needs to grow a pair to find his place on this team.

It must be difficult, but I would have told Sergio to piss off over that last minute free-kick.

Aguero might have hit the bar but outside of KDB, 20 yards from goal, there is nobody better in this league than Mahrez from free-kicks.

Some very good points there.

Mendy is good for home games when teams come to survive and sit in their own half. Away days where teams will have seen what wolves did yesterday and have a go we need Delph.

GOOD POINT

Certainly didn't!!

Sane and Sterling both having the pace to get back in and Delph essentially tucking in to make up another midfielder.

David Silva works his bollocks off and we need him to be closer to our own goal to get us out and link triangles with Stones and Delph.

Mahrez in the ten fills the Silva and KDB responsibility nicely, whilst also given him the time he needs to become a regular.

That front four is unrivalled anywhere.

Totally agree. I’d like to see mahrez in the team as an 8.

Rare we say this, but just not good enough.

I can’t say I’m a fan when Gundogan plays.
What a silly comment.
'Just not good enough' for wot?
We weren't at our best admittedly but we hit the woodwork three times and their goal was a handball.
So it should have been 1-0 and with the rub of the green could have been two or three nil (whilst not at our best).
