Wolves (A) Post Match Thread

I don't think that's right though. This season is only 3 games in so granted obviously your not referring to this period. Last season we lost what?, 2 games and smashed the rest of the league of which he contributed well. So what is this extended period of time your referring to?, because if I'm right the season before that he was out for most of it injured. I'm not saying his performances have not been below par at times. But to suggest he has been below par for an extended period above everyone else does not stack up at all. Particularly when you take into consideration the above mentioned.

Ps. As for defensively absent as I've said that's no more his game than it is either of the Silva's. Plus most of the area wolves attacked came down the flanks so if there are criticism s to be made on that point, they should be directed at Bernardo Silva, sane or sterling who occupied those spaces at various stages of the game. But they won't be criticised because their not gundogan.
Not sure why some pundits suggest that Vinnie’s slow. Aubameyang is one of the quickest strikers on the planet. In a leg race in the Lesgue Cup Final Vinnie cruised last him. I’ve never seen Vinnie outrun by anyone. By his own supreme standards he was not at his best yesterday, but even then we’re talking about only two poor passes in 90 minutes.

Gundogan must be immense in training cause I can count on one hand the number of games where he's be excellent. With the options we have I can't work out how he's starting games this season, but Pep knows best.
Because after debruynes and David, in both thirds of the pitch hes arguably the best player we have, particularly against a deep block. I think there were others who were worse but that is being critical as it was a good point I feel. If we have to be critical it was fern who was like a fish out of water. I love him to bitsbmy favourite player, but yesterday showed me why pep was after jorghinio, although I'm glad we did not get him. Creatively fern offered nothing against a 19 man bus, and that's not all on Gundogan.

Agree. For me B Silva should be in a straight fight with Gundogan for the central midfield position as by playing him out on the right it means Sterling is not played in his most effective position. Then Sterling can fight it out with Mahrez for the wide right position.
Bernard is not disciplined enough to play the Gundo role, he either plays the D Silva role or on the right, the problem yesterday he seemed to keep out wide and not drift inside as much for some reason, ala Sterling on the opposite side who i thought had a very good game causing problems going inside and out.

With the greatest respect, he knows better than you, as 2 trophies, 100 points, and over well 100 goals last year will testify too.

There's some rubbish talked about Gundogan, especially yesterday, where he was statistically one of the better players.

See here

Exactly why I put Pep knows best.

Stats are handy to use when they add weight to a debate but there are always counter stats. There was one knocking around last season that Gundogan started every game but one that we lost last season, probably just a coincidence.

I wasn't taking yesterdays game as a benchmark mate, several players were out of sorts. Ref Ferd, Pep already mentioned early in the week that he was struggling to keep intensity due to not enough rest, I think that showed yesterday.

yes but those players work to defend...sterling is excellent defensively and Bernardo tackles back well (as do Silva and KDB when playing) - Sane - well this is something I've said recently about his attitude and Pep has also said it about him not working off the ball/out of possession. Gundogna is just poor defensively -this is down to his ability or lack of it

I do not disagree with your comments re:sterling and B Silva did stay out wide more but as we know is less effective where his strength is cutting in onto his stronger left foot. Typically where he goes on the outside he gets brushed off the ball.

For me its all about the balance of the side, rather than individual performances and so I would still much prefer Steling on his right, where he had such a good season last year and Sane stretching sides on the opposite flank.

What makes you think that about Bernardo? Not sure I have noticed a lack of discipline myself and he seems like the type of intelligent footballer and mentality that he would follow Peps instructions to a tee. Not saying your wrong by the way as Pep seems to have a reluctance to play him there.

Why didn’t he take him of early last week when were 3 up!

I was especially impressed by your centre halves 3 last ditch tackles that denied Sergio (twice) and Sterling.
Two of the toughest games we've had in the last year were against Wolves. As a promoted team, their approach against us was understandable, but to concede a goal via an offside handball is an absolute joke. Makes the Prem decision makers look even more of a joke than they already are. VAR can't come soon enough for me. Those two points could cost us the Prem - unlikely, but possible.
