Work For Dole

Best one I've heard is this 60 year old, one eyed woman who can barely read and can only write her name has been sent on a mandatory computer course. The poor woman can't send text messages and is scared to death what a computer is. Was a factory worker but sod all for her as nowadays there are 50 people for every job and they can read a health and safety test.

What a waste of time and money.

Atos were not given £100,000,000 to actually assess people, (how quaint) , it's all about payback, all about pandering to the party faithful, and it's working

Though we all had a good laugh at the thought of some wet bag trying to teach this woman how to send an e-mail when see can't spell the reality is not funny. Apparently she spent 2 hours sat in front of "a telly with no programmes on it" crying.

Jeez she's volunteered for charity work and been turned down.

Why can't some understand that this is just a perceived vote winner and nothing else?
The Tories are giving out sound bites that appease their core voters; nothing more and nothing else. It won't be delivered because the suggested policy is unworkable in any way in the notion that it has been delivered. And by the next election it will have been forgotten but there will be other sound bites to entice stray voters. It's all a sham.
Wake up and smell the coffee,

Wake up and smell the coffee,

Your not preaching to the non believer here mate I like you can see the impracticalities of a hair brained idea. It is how you put pure soundbites from tory ranks tub thumping from the Bulligdon boys one to appease the grass roots and haul the UKIP defectors back in to the bussom.

I agree with what SWP and Ban say about menial work. I think its a good way to start, get in the swing of a working routine, and you can bide your time, and think more of what you really want to do, and properly prepare for it. You don't need to stay there the rest of your life. Thinking your above it is really dumb, there are plenty of people in decent, well paying jobs that started off doing something pretty mundane. I disagree with this "work for the dole" being the solution though. I know people say, its aimed at 'undesirable' types who genuinely don't want to work, and just live off the state, and not the honest folk who really want to find work, but those honest folk will be the biggest hit. If people don't want to work, then they don't want to work, and there's nothing really you can do about it, they'll just find others ways to beat the system, and use different tactics, which could be even more nefarious (criminal activity). That's democracy. If you give people the freedom to do whatever they want, then it shouldn't be much of a shock if some choose it to be completely useless. Unless you want a dictatorship. Sure we'll have to sacrifice the odd personal freedom, but how much street crime, and benefit scrounging do you think there is North Korea? I can't see too many being happy to bow down to giant statues of Her Majesty, and Margaret Thatcher though, not in Scouseland anyway.

I dropped my mates kid at the job centre today about 4pm the place was empty maybe 2 non workers in the place. everybody sat around chatting. He has a induction/ interview tomoz for a xmas job with the royal mail.He had used seetec his work provider to print all the stuff he needed around 50 pages, which he took to the job center. But he had realised they also wanted copies of his passport front and inside info, proof of address x 3, and something with his addy and and ni number x3. he told the girl at the counter what he needed, she said i will i will photocopy the passport but we dont have the manpower to do anymore.

then comes the ni number and address on the same form needed 3 times. Another guy gives him 1 copy, mates kid says i need it 3 times and the jc guy says you dont they will do that at the interview. Kid shows him the royal mail paperwork clearly showing if you do not bring all the photocopies the induction will not proceed. Jc guy still said they do not need 3 copies.

I snapped and said this kid is trying to find work and you wont even print what he needs, or even read the paperwork from the royal mail asking for it.I was fucking fuming at them, and took a vid on my mob at how quiet the place was.

we got it sorted in the end, but if this kid had put in a complaint they would no doubt sanction him.

Its a fucked up system.

luckily his dad was at work doing bricklaying for me cos he would have knocked the guy out.

Our co-operative just took on another person tonight. She's been on ESA for three years, her confidence is shot to bits, she's forty-one and desperate for a break with people she trusts. Application after after application after rejection after rejection. We came through college together and I know she just needs a chance, so she's in. Twelve months ago I had fuck all. Now I'm employing local people with zero assistance from the government. Just fucking do it and look after everyone around you that you can. I haven't felt this good in years.

The job centre is an absolute joke. I've been on JSA for well over a year now since I finished university. And despite constant applications for any position offered no one is willing to give me a chance. The only two interviews I've had are con merchants wanting you to work for 100% commission. It feels as though I'm being punished for furthering my education. I can say for certain it's wrecked my confidence and left me feeling somewhat depressed.

That was the same for me after I finished uni, I was on JSA for nearly a year, with a brief break inbetween when I did land a position, but it was very brief, and they didn't take me on permanently. The job centre really should do more to help. It was only after 5 months, they put me in touch with an advisor, and that helped, but even then it was still a challenge. They need to do more, then just point you to a computer, when you ask for help. Maybe try asking if you can see an advisor, and get their details, so you can contact them and book appointments with them at any time? I know how you feel, it does stink, the only advise I can give is to just keep plugging away, trying to look for voluntary work or some kind of training courses. I found this useful. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.safetyfirstnorthwest.co.uk/www.safetyfirstnorthwest.co.uk/info.php?p=11" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.safetyfirstnorthwest.co.uk/w ... o.php?p=11</a> Of course you'll want work, but every little helps, so its worth considering. Good luck. It can be very demoralising, sending off application after application and hearing nothing.

Wake up and smell the coffee,
Spot on Macca. It's fucking insane that folk can't (or won't) see this as the complete window dressing it is to appease all the warmed-up corpses in the Tory grass roots who are thinking of voting UKIP.

This scheme will not happen in any meaningful sense.

The sad thing is...it is no more just the tories who think like this.
Subtle programming has led to people from right across the political spectrum considering this as the way to go, while Serco ect, bumfuck us all to oblivion.
Yeah, there is an under class taking the piss, but there is also the tax dodging higher-ups getting away with far worse and you all know it but gloss over it, why?
