What is best for the Club is a moot point but it is perfectly arguable that there are better strategies than signing Ronaldo and alienating a section of the fanbase. There are certainly better branding strategies than signing someone so closely associated with City's bitter rivals.
These aren't necessarily arguments that I would fully defend but they're valid arguments nonetheless.

If a section of the fanbase felt alienated at buying the 2nd best player in the world then more fool them.

I put my love of City ahead of my hatred for Utd.

No, nor am I remotely interested in claims he is a great player, what he most certainly is can best be summed up by the word c*nt.

Ragship aside for a minute, what exactly is it that makes you hate Ronaldo so much?

I hated him when he played for them, I'm totally indifferent now and would love to see him in our side.

He wouldn't be the first ex-rag to play for us so I really don't see the problem?

Thats ridiculous mate, how many players do you think pull on a shirt for pride in the club these days, very very few in my opinion.. Its about the Club, the players come and go as do the fans and the staff etc etc.. I couldnt give a monkey's who scores our goals, as long as we win, dont get me wrong, I respect your opinion but to say you would rather we didnt win a trophy again unless we have badge kissing heroes playing is fantasy... !

I'd be extremely surprised if he came to us with his links and obvious affinity with the Rags, having said that if we could get him here with his strike rate nobody would touch us.

His standing in the game would also help us spread the City brand worldwide which we are trying very hard. He would also generate massive worldwide income from merchandising, so yes on very front.

Any chance United had of signing him went out the window when Ferguson retired. I feel sure the question would have been asked face to face by Ronaldo, after all they have/had a "father son" relationship.

Really cannot see CURRENT OR PREVIOUS UNITED Big Ego players taking shit off of Moyes, we are already seeing it with Rooney, having had previous, and Rooney has Ronaldo's ear also.

Can see Moyes falling out with all the Old Guard, as soon as they are dropped or questioned. Could be Wilf McGuinness all over again, except Moyes will get two years, which is quite funny really.

Mourinho has fallen out with Ronaldo, and Chelsea and Arsenal, probably need Rooney more than Ronaldo anyway.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool can't afford him. Italy is out of the question, and Barca have signed heir apparent in Neymar.

That leaves us, Monaco and Paris St. Germain.

One big factor he loves the Prem and the Prem NEEDS him, no, i can't really see him giving a shit about his previous "club" anymore, he will go to the highest bidder.

Prem for the next three years and one Champions League IF we bought him.
