Re: Yaya Toure

the days are few and far between when we'll have a player who play's regular for first team who hand on heart is a blue 100 and 10 %
a few come to mind that are close zabba or player coming through the ranks. but at the end of the day they are virtually all mercenaries, the difference is that now we should no longer tolerate them. i've loved watching yaya, like i loved watching teves and other "superstars" but we are now thankfully in a position to say if your not happy F^#K off.
how many times has the agent stuck his 2 peneth in, leading up to transfer windows.

love yaya but if the reason he wants to go is we didn't buy any candles the other week then sorry but, we have more important things to do.

I've stayed out of this as much as possible because I've still got next to no idea what's going on, but people are far too quick to forget what Yaya has done for us.

He won us the FA Cup with two huge goals at Wembley, he won us the title with two crucial goals away to Newcastle, he scored the greatest goal I've seen live in a stadium to get us back in the League Cup final and his return to the squad this spring rejuvenated our title chase.

All of a sudden, a crazy story leaked by his agent and a few tweets later - the source of which absolutely none of us are aware of - Yaya Toure is public enemy number one. Why? Because the story has been allowed to fester and boil.

This has been a very poorly managed attempt at getting a better contract before he retires and nothing more. He's not threatened to leave, his only mistake was letting his agent grab hold of every microphone within touching distance.

We forgave Tevez despite the fact he abandoned us for 6 months after falling out with Mancini, we can surely forgive Yaya Toure. The first few games back will be difficult and there will be teething problems but we'll all get over it.

Yaya is also very quick to forget what we have done for him.

When we brought him here, he was a Barca bench warmer. The media and pundits alike ridiculed us for spending what we did on him. Some sports presenters didn't even know who he was.
Fast forward a couple of years and they certainly know who he is now, in fact everyone knows.
Last year you couldn't got out on the piss in any town or city in the country without bumping into a gang of piss heads singing the Yaya song, and these weren't even football fans let alone blues.
It's even sang in bars across Europe and seems to have taken a life of it's own as a drinking song for students/piss heads/teenagers or anyone else who just fancies a bounce around to a catchy tune when they're out enjoying themselves. A song born at the Etihad, about a player who many said was overpriced.
We turned him from a defensive mid, who was only known in football circles, into the world class player he is today. A player who is known around the world and not just by football fans. Everyone knows who he is and that is because he plays for Manchester City.

He owes us just as much as we owe him.

Great post Stony, I was thinking the same, but I couldn't articulate it like you have.

I bet he's embarrassed now.

This, I'm starting to feel sorry for him. He's sitting there being nationally laughed at.

It's his own fault, but we shouldn't forget he's been one of the best pieces of football business the club have done - it's a shame he's guided by an idiot and clearly doesn't have his head screwed on enough to distance himself from such comments and deal with his motives behind closed doors with the club. He'll stay, he'll win more trophies and we'll sing his name - but he has a summer left of ridicule yet, and the rest. Happy Birthday Yaya.

All he has to say is that there has been a misunderstanding, sack the agent, then apologize to the City fans.

Re: Yaya Toure

It will take some hard work from Yaya's side to come out of this smelling of roses. If (hopefully) he is playing for City next season it will be open day for the opposition fans with both chants and cakes being thrown on the pitch.
I have a vision of him banging in his first goal at the Etihad and there being complete silence except one small voice singing happy birthday.

Ooh yeah
I don't know why I find that so funny. I am crying with laughter. Maybe 48 hours on this thread has sent me over the edge.

There's only one person who owes an apology. Well two if we include you.
And stony for his offensive placard.

I reserve my right to peaceful protest.

p.s. have you got a white bedsheet I can borrow ?
Last time I loaned you something was that DVD set in an all-male sauna which you've still to return.

Don't be silly, we are City fans - we'll come up with our own Yaya song involving birthdays making all match day ridicule void.

Truth is, the whole conflict was over something so silly (a birthday cake), that's all people will remember.

All he has to do is re-commit to City and score his first goal next season. Then it will be forgotten by most fans. This didn't get anywhere near the level of Tevez saga.

Never a fan since Steam Team II, the ending wasn't happy enough for me.

You think I'm going to lend that **** Steam Team IV?

It was Sauna Seductions III. Low budget, but watchable.

Personally, I always thought Wet and Wistful was the best sauna-on-sauna erotica available.

Re: Yaya Toure

It'd be nice if the first post could post all the big changes to this saga as they happened, for people who don't want to read 300+ pages.
