Sorry but unless there is some sort of apology then we punt him on but our terms

Insist on a transfer request
Will only sell to Non EPL clubs
Minimum sell price what we paid for him

If he dont or wont then we keep but omit him from the CL squad

Not gutted nor angry its modern day football but if this clubs spends a fucking penny increasing his current contract then they are mad

No player is bigger than the team or the club if he wanted to go then so be it but his gob shite "agent" really took the piss

Ty Yaya but goodbye

Sounds good in theory, but in practice, we had this issue with Tevez.

If we leave him out of CL, we end up with with a disgruntled player who is losing value by the day and causing unrest in the squad.
If we keep playing him, we basically have to hope he plays well to sell himself to potential suitors.
Potential suitors know the situation and use it to drive his price down. It shifts the balance of power in their favour (not totally, but it does shift a bit).

We're under FFP scrutiny, so despite the Sheik's wealth, we still need to try and maximise his value (either in a sale, or on pitch performances). It's annoying, but player power is quite strong these days. He knows it too, which is why he's chosen to go down this path.

Re: Yaya Toure

If he wants more money, maybe he and his agent should write an opposite take on this best seller ...

Re: Yaya Toure

I knew a bloke who owned a few bars and nightclubs. Self made bloke, incredibly streetwise. Originally made his money as an on-course bookie.

Whenever he was doing a refurb of one of his outlets, in the last week of the project he'd engineer a row with the contractors over something and nothing, so he could avoid paying them for ages and when he did eventually settle up he'd want money off the final bill. It was like clockwork, every fucking time.

I have been reminded of this in the last couple of days.

I'll spell it out to you before I disappear for the next few hours:

- we need to sort things out with Yaya;
- is he going to be with us next season? (and he could be because we hold his contract and no one else might be able to afford him) or
- might he have a suitor in Barca and will we sell him on?
- who might we go after to replace him?

NONE of the above is dealt with by issuing PR releases, besides which we don't need to issue PR releases about this, which is as big of a joke (PR-wise) as you could possibly imagine.

What you think about this and what I think about it is immaterial, and any amount of press releases and posturing isn't likely to make any difference to the mammoth PR fuck-up that Yaya & his agent have created.

It's all a fait accompli.

So.. as so many others have pointed out, just relax and stop getting your knickers in a twist.

Sam the Eagle will be looking into things, as will the rest of our staff (that's those responsible for managing the team and negotiating the commercial aspects of things) whilst the good people engaged in our PR are busy writing about our community involvements and commercial operations (merchandising) not about Yaya Toure's agent's brain farts.

Thank you for confirming we are arguing different points, it saves us both time and effort of continuing the discussion. And that we come from different experience levels with operations of this kind. You seem to be taking a very myopic view of the potential effects of this situation, which is somewhat confusing given your earlier comment about thinking "it through". Long-term analysis is by definition am attempt to understand all foreseeable effects of an action or circumstance beyond the immediate or obvious.

I have to say, though, again, no need to take the debates personally.

here's a thread for you to read, especially what's on page two:

<a class="postlink-local" href="http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=301864" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=1&t=301864</a>

I've already read through mate. Nothing opposed to my views (because I have never said they should make public comment and you seemingly continue to argue against a point I never made). As I have said, you've confirmed we are not discussing the same issues, nor are you interested in a long-term analysis, so we should probably allow it to pass.

Re: Yaya Toure

This event this week has sickened me.

Lost huge amount of respect for yaya after this. How much money does he need!!

Re: Yaya Toure

Jaw dropping behavior from Yaya and his agent (if true)!
`didn`t get me a cake SO I AM OFF!!! lol
can`t say as i believe it all but if he is upset with his employer for that he should try working for the nhs!
As a matter of fact he should try working like the rest of us.

Re: Yaya Toure

The problem for Yaya is that, at the moment, we're all really disappointed in him.

If he leaves it until after the world cup to communicate with the club and the fans, I think any apology (should that be forthcoming) will fall on deaf ears and that disappointment will have been replaced with irretrievable disgust.

He needs to speak now whilst he still has a chance.

Way too many emotional reactions here. This is about Yaya wanting more money and in light of Rooney's wages you can to some extent understand why, after the season he has had, he feels he is worth more money. However, the way his agent has gone about things is amateurish at best.

The toy out of the pram brigade need to think very carefully about this. The days of us overspending our rivals are gone, the one thing we had in our favour going for the big players was money, that advantage has been removed by FFP.

What this squad needs is evolution, not revolution, arguments that you replace 20 goals in the premier league and 'heavy' goals at that with someone like Fabregas makes me shiver, dismantling a premiership winning team because are sentiments towards our club have been insulted. You risk dismantling a great team every time we have something like this occur.

This is business. IMO he is too good to leave and we have him tied into a further 3 years. Unless we get silly money, and I mean 50 million plus, he goes nowhere. We find a compromise, we take the Liverpool approach with Suarez. Can you imagine if they had sold him for 40million what would there season have looked like?

Loyalty works both ways. I am often disgusted by the vitriol thrown at our players after a couple of poor performances. Loyalty works both ways and at times we as fans have shown none to certain players yet we expect complete loyalty in return.

What makes us bigger and better than the rags or Liverpool who have face similar circumstances and found a way to keep the player. Yaya is too big a player to let go, we have to find a resolution.

It's worse than a couple of poor performances. He's stuck two fingers up at the owners and the fans so we are entitled to jump on him.

He should be required to explain himself BEFORE the World Cup. If he shows genuine regret then OK; draw a line under the affair and put a PR gloss on it. If he refuses, or shows no contrition, there is a strong business case to put him on the market. This is based on three factors:

1. Last season was freakishly productive ( a career stand-out) and is unlikely to be repeated.
2. Next year he'll be 32 and worth a fraction of his current value.
3. He'll create a bad odour if he hangs around in a demotivated state of mind.

Under no circumstances should twattish behaviour earn an improved contract. That may be acceptable to the rags but we have higher standards.
Got to agree with this. If he (through his 'agent') had said "I want to leave because I don't like the rain and cold" then fair enough, but he has disrespected club and fans *; he has been biting the hand that feeds him. That attitude should be regarded as unacceptable and I hope the club sell him asap and get whatever remaining value there is in him to reinvest in younger talent(s). Remember he will be away for a month or more in the new year and will be 32, and worth a lot less, at the start of his next full season with us. Sell or loan out to Spurs and Everton for half seasons until he comes to his senses.

Edited to add

* Fans for whom it takes 10 years or more to earn what he earns in a single week - and his fellow Africans a lifetime. Think on that Yaya with your ego the size of a planet...
