Re: Yaya Toure

Be lovely if we could get an auction going, a nice battle between PSG and Monaco. :-)

Anyone think we could be a better side without Yaya in it, but replacing him with the right player(s)?
Yes. You'd have to change the system a bit as there's no like-for-like replacement but I think we could be a better team without him, we'd certainly be more able to implement a high pressing game.

Ultimately we'll have to learn to live without Yaya whether it's next season or in three years' time. If Txiki and Pellers think we're ready to do it now, they'll sell, if not, he'll stay.

He's a great player and has turned up in a lot of big games, but sometimes i question whether he is a liability in terms of the way that we are wanting to try and play.

Before anyone quotes me, im not saying Yaya is a liability, im saying in terms of the way were trying to play ie high pressing and being on the front foot

In a lot of games last season a decent midfield played around him because he doesn't have the pace to close them down quick enough, and before you know it their at our back four

We would have to move one or two things round but this could actually see us start implementing a 4-3-3 if we wanted to as we would have 3 midfielders that can get about the pitch for 90 minutes

Nasri, Fernandinho and Fernando in the middle, with Silva and Jovetic just off Aguero up front sounds pretty tasty, and that's without actually buying another midfielder as we're expecting to get Fernando anyway. Add Fabregas for example, and we've got plenty of options in midfield, and up front Aguero could play a withdrawn role alongside Silva or Jovetic, with one of the big blokes up top.

Imo, and an unpopular one it is, but YES I DO.

Yaya is the best CM in the world last season imo. He has it all in his armoury as an attacking CM. Power, pass, shooting, accuracy and a surging run. The problem though is his lack of pressing and that will only regress further as he ages due to less stamina and pace.

Yaya, is as Hamann stated, a liability defensively. He leaves gaps, he lets Fernandinho and before Barry to do his work. In a two man midfield, ideally you'd have two work horses of world class ability. Fernandinho is immense and I'd puteverything into getting Vidal, or Fabregas. One is a Yaya replacement and the other is a more complete CM who used to drag his Arsenal team to victory at a young age. Either will benefit City in the long term. Both are younger, both offer more to the team as a whole and both are world class. This worry that all is lost without Yaya is hyperbole. Yaya as good as he is, is replaceable and the best thing for City as a club is to sell.

Re: Yaya Toure

Haha Benatia has been "disrespested" by Roma now too and it would be a dream move to us.

Do we like Benatia or is it a one way street? Just wondering ;-)

Also if City have received an offer from PSG we must be thinking how can they be ignoring FFP and we aren't!

Something fishy about all of this.

If we receive a bid from PSG, bearing in mind what they said over Matuidi, we should double the price!

Not at all ... rumour has it that UEFA have told City/PSG the transfer limit is based on book cost of players rather than overall transfer value ... ergo ... any fee is booked over the length of the contract. In essence we could spend 200 million on four players giving them all five year contracts and not fall foul of the FFP rules.

UEFA themselves won't confirm this because much like the 21 man squad restriction, the details of the settlements fall in favour of the clubs who are being punished thus making them look weak.

When is the deadline for appeals by affected clubs? I wonder if we will keep our dealings under wraps until that passes lest it annoy our rivals enough to appeal out sanctions.
