His stock, and status certainly increased with City. Not many players would move from Barcelona, but see their status as a player increase.
He was always known as being a top quality player there. He was never talked about as one of the very best midfielders in the world, i.e in the top5. He is talked about as being in that bracket, now.

To be honest, Yaya's pedigree was not close to what it is now when he was at Barcelona.
He earned the status of one of the best players at City, not Barcelona.
