Quite a few posts on here stating we should not worry IF we were to lose Yaya. How exactly do people think we will become a great side if we lose players like Yaya? The likes of Silva, Aguero and Kompany are the key names to attract other really big players.

Whether we like it or not we are not big in players eyes when compared to the likes of bayern, barce, milan, madrid, scum etc, so we need to build on players like Yaya to help attract others like him to our club.

We have had to buy and pay players well above market value to attract them -we need to then use them to attract others, not sell low and buy more expensive, and for sure if we sold Yaya we would get a fraction of what we would have to spend to replace him - who could do what he does, and what would that cost, assuming such a player would want to come?

FFP is real, people on here have scoffed at it for years and said it will not affect our owners, that they and we are too clever - well it is real and it is here to stay, and losing prize assets is not a clever way around it, in my opinion.

Keep Yaya City

As i posted earlier, Yaya plays well in "big" games or when he can be arsed, for 200,000 quid a week, not good enough (not his talent, but his application).
Thinks his shit does not stink and he is bigger than the club.
We can get two young and hungry for success players for what we pay him.

The so called big teams won't pay anything more than £25m for any player

Specially not for 29 years old on huge wages.

Yaya and his agent know that very well, they don't have too much ammo in their hands and Yaya would get his current City contract somewhere else on St. Never Day.

Only hardballs... if not, City will always be treated like Shanghai FC by players and agents.

Yaya holds the cards, if he goes, we need to rebuild the whole midfield and probably playing style, as everything comes through him, especially now silva is off the boil

The same goes the other way - he is in years he won't get the City contract anywhere.

He is great player, I won't argue that, specific and as such though to replace, but on the end of a day with some adjustments everyone is replaceable with money bar Massi and less Ronaldo.

I'd certainly be happy for Yaya to stay but things his camp is doing is not the way it should be done and he should be said that in perfectly clear way.

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

If he is on £220kpw and is asking for a extension longer than two seasons, I wouldn't offer it to be honest . At 29, I think we could get a good, younger replacement . Yaya is one of our best players but I'd like to see what he is demanding . I think a massive rebuild is needed in
the side and guys like yaya CAN be replaced .

I think Txiki might welcome the opportunity. After all, if we're going to a more Barca-like style of play, you've got to start somewhere, and would invariably suggest central defs who can dribble and pass the ball forward and mids who can retain possession.

-- Wed Mar 20, 2013 8:00 am --

Agree strongly with this. Dmitri Seluk is a noted pain-in-the-arse, however.

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

Losing Yaya would be pulling the engine out of the car, it would be a big immediate loss. As others have said it might not be the disaster it seems though, especially if we want to switch to a more mobile 4-3-3 next season. If we could get £35million for Yaya from PSG or someone in Russia and reinvest a big chunk of it in a midfielder like Arturo Vidal and a young energetic midfielder with great passing ability it could help us put together a more balanced midfield that could be more effective in Europe (where even Yaya has looked quite unimpressive in many of our games). I don't want Yaya to leave at all but Txiki might have a plan if we do allow it to happen like at Barca where Busquets had replaced him.

Top drawer post.

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

RVP was 29 when he went to United. He has made a significant impact to their team. This season, many pundits say he is the key difference between us.
Last summer many people were quoting his age as if he was the verge of retirement.

28 to 32 is probably the peak for most pros.

Yaya is a special player who has played a key role in our success. There are huge TV revenues coming in to the PL in coming years.

IMO it would be madness to let our best player leave.

No worries there, mate. Dave signed a new contract last September.
