I'd be hedging my bets too. You simply don't hand over a contract guaranteeing over £200,000 a week every single week for 5 years to someone who will be 35 by the time it ends. No other team would even dream of doing it and quite rightly City won't either. In fact he'd be hard pressed to find anyone willing to match that for 3 years given the transfer fee they'd also have to shell out.
