Yaya Toure signs new five year contract (merged)

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

Matt I agree we aren't as good without him.

However, it would only be a 'disaster' if we didn't replace him appropriately or use his fee/wage savings to substantially improve another area of the first 11.

Also, one way or another, he will need replacing eventually so in my opinion it'd be much wiser to 'cash in' now rather than 2 or 3 years down the line when he will be worth fuck all.

If someone came in with a 25m bid I think City would bite both their hands off.

Stories connecting Chelsea with Yaya.

If true would you swap him for Hazard? I think I would.
NO, Hazard isen´t worth more then 30mill, Yaya is.
If he's going to Chelsea I'd rather we swapped him for Ashley Cole, given how exposed his departure is going to leave us at left back.

He doesn't want more, he wants the SAME but Soriano is trying to get all new contracts on a reduced basic + bonuses like at Barcelona.
Don´t think it´s ok for Yaya to earn that kind of money when he´s 30+

Exactly, would you want a 34-5 year old on 200k+ a week?

Yaya Toure and his agent.

Why does it bother you so much?

If he wants to go (not saying he does) I'd be happy to let him go.

He's almost 30 and his best years will soon be behind him (we were lucky to have him in his prime).. He will only get worse from here on in.

He's on a fucking huge wage. We could get a very tidy fee for him from someone like PSG. Makes great financial sense and helps with the sustainability drive.

This fee could be appropriately utilised.

He hasn't been great this season.

It isn't that big a deal.

Except for the fact that at his best no one on Earth can touch him :/

'At his best' yes.

We haven't seen that since Newcastle away last season.

At almost 30 he will only get worse.

Look at it like this - lets imagine Yaya doesn't currently play for us and we are currently looking to sign him. The fee is 25m and he has those huge wage demands.

What would this forum say?

I know what I'd say.

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

I just don't get it.
Yaya declares his love for us and says he wants to finish his career here, roll on a few weeks and his agent is saying more or less the complete opposite.
Who's telling the truth?

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

I played a bit of Fifa today and for a few games I played Yaya behind the striker, he was ace.

Having read this news, I feel cheated.

Back to CDM for you, migraine man.

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

I'd be fine if a good offer came in and we replaced him properly (which I trust we would). He his going to be 30 in May, hasn't produced his best much this season (although few have) and is on huge wages. Getting him on a deal for less money or if we simply keep him for another year or two aren't bad ideas either.

Wonder if that will apply to the next manager too

Hazard is worth 50 at least as he is the most talented young player in the league and more, brilliant player, and can give Chelsea 10 years of service... so 25-30 millions saved after first contract runs for not paying transfer fee for another player of similar quality.

It's no sense question as Chelsea wouldn't consider that in worst nightmare but I'd swap Yaya tomorrow for Hazard.
