Yaya Toure signs new five year contract (merged)

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

Let him go then. Sick of players and their agents dragging a clubs name through the mud. City should give Yaya a contract only on the proviso he fires this idiot who negotiates via the media.

Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

If its an ultimatum for a 4-5 yr expensive contract renewal or to leave. My choice is the latter. Bye bye and thank you.

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

Hasn't been good enough recently anyway, and if he wants to play Billy Big Bollocks now and threaten the club then just sell him off in May.

Matt I agree we aren't as good without him.

However, it would only be a 'disaster' if we didn't replace him appropriately or use his fee/wage savings to substantially improve another area of the first 11.

Also, one way or another, he will need replacing eventually so in my opinion it'd be much wiser to 'cash in' now rather than 2 or 3 years down the line when he will be worth fuck all.

If someone came in with a 25m bid I think City would bite both their hands off.

Are you crazy? 25m for Yaya? What kind of player do you think we could buy to replace him with 25m? We paid 20 for Garcia and he's mediacre at best. Munich paid 35 for J. Martinez and he's not the offensive player yaya is. 40m for him is the least we can take for him. Anything less than that means we will have to spend double what we got for him to replace him. Why sell a proven player plus 20m for a non-proven player? We need to add to the roster not exchance one player for another.

Hazard is worth 50 at least as he is the most talented young player in the league and more and can give Chelsea 10 years of service so 25-30 millions saved after first contract runs for not paying transfer fee for another player of similar quality.

It's no sense question as Chelsea wouldn't consider that in worst nightmare but I'd swap Yaya tomorrow for Hazard.
He´s to inconsistent to be worth 50mill, only Ronaldo, Messi and possibly Iniesta is worth that kind of money. Who cares if he´s talented it´s all about producing on the pitch and from what I´ve seen so far he isen´t worth 38mill or whatever they payed for him.

My post was definitely not written in perfect English but I guess it should be enough to understand what I thought with "he is worth 50 million at least"..

He is absolute class and he is going to own Premier League for years.. the most talented young player by some margin.
He hasen´t proven to be worth 50mill "at least" so far has he? Maybe he might be in the future but for now, no way.

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

I wonder if Yaya feels he was not wanted/rated highly enough at Barca by Soriano and Begiristain? and they are not sufficiently keen to give him the contract he feels he deserves at City?

Oh well, it looks I have to do it...

He is 22, he is easily worth 25 millions just now, brilliant player. When his current contract ends, he'll be 26-27 and will have quite enough time to sign another one while still being in his prime. And then eventually to sign another one by being year or two older than Yaya is now.

That means Chelsea won't have to pay another 25 millions to some other Lille to acquire player of his quality when his initial contract runs out + they'll have hard time to find such a good and young player, and as such he is worth 50 millions right now, injuries aside.

And that's the reason why I would personally swap him tonight for Yaya if Chelsea would be mental enough to accept that deal. And they, of course, are not.

I was not keen for City to bend over his agent too, might be wrong and too stubborn but I'm all about principles in such situations, and can't stand football agents, but Chelsea did it and got a great player with years in front of him. They might overpaid him a bit initially and paid too much to his agent but principles aside you don't get a chance to sign such a good 21 years old player often, they've did it and I think they got a gem.

Hope it's clear now.

I guess you are talking about Hazard.

A month ago I was thinking we dodged a bullet their.

He started the season well, had a mid-season slump, but in recent weeks he has returned with a bang. At this moment Bale and Hazard are the best players in the Premiership. Hazard has been inconsistent.

I hope Yaya stays, but this season he hasn't been at the same level as last season, and at his age he would not attract a huge fee as he has no resale value

Yeah, it's Hazard. Brilliant player, indeed. I respect that City refused to bend over his agent demands but if they haven't I'd close my eyes, he's so good.

Inconsistency was something to be expected in his first year, being young and with all that was happening at Chelsea but there's class all over him, and years in front of him.

Re: Yaya's agent says he is ready to quit...

Ya Ya is a big game player and we need to keep him.

You can argue about his relative form this season compared to last season's but at the end of the day there isn't one club in the league that wouldn't have him straight in their team.

He is to us what Michael Essien was to Chelsea. On his day, his drive, power and vision makes him virtually unplayable. He is irreplaceable, there isn't another player like him around.

There will always be an element of posturing from players, agents and clubs when dealing with the contracts of big name players around his age. The press especially love to magnify any apparent division between the parties. It is something we as fans will have to get used to reading about. But we do need to keep him.
