Played well tonight

No he didn't,he's like a diesel engine, very slow off the mark but motors well, however,he wasn't energetic or dynamic enough tonight and generally didn't look up for the scrap, certainly not strong enough in the challenge and goes down too easy for my liking, also i'm not sure what his best position is yet?

Similar to Ade,the talents there but we don't always get to see it...

I think half the problem lies in the fact we have too many players of similar style in our midfield who are literally on top of each other and all doing the same jobs.We definitely need a new wide man to offer some width, balance and, most importantly, pace! Speaking for most of our midfield,it's still square pegs in round holes at present.

I mustve been watching a different game tonight. He made quite a few surging runs thru the midfield. just sad that without ballotelli we had no one to give it to unlike against WBA.

go back 7 days and you wouldve taken this result.

it was just another game more important to the rags than us.

-- Wed Nov 10, 2010 10:44 pm --

I mustve been watching a different game tonight. He made quite a few surging runs thru the midfield. just sad that without ballotelli we had no one to give it to unlike against WBA.

Felt sorry for him tonight. The movement around him was embarrassing. The fans get on the players backs if we just keep possession, but then have a moan when someone tries to do something when it doesn't come off. The team with Milner on the wing isn't good enough. That's the main problem. The support in front of Yaya consists of two top quality midgets and a 'trier'.

The movement was poor, but maybe you have to give credit to the United 3 who at times made it nigh on impossible for De Jong and Barry to play any sort of pass into feet. Maybe Yaya felt sorry for himself, coz that's what it looked like; but instead of ambling around the midfield, maybe just maybe he could of tried to do what united were doing to us and get his fucking body/foot in there. Awful.
The problem is, at Barca he was the deeper player, with Xavi and Iniesta immediately infront of him. Teams backed off and it allowed Alves and Maxwell forward. The gave Toure options to either side of him aswell as the excellent movement of Xavi and Iniesta.

Here he is the furthest forward of the 3. Zabaleta comes inside from the left and crowds the pitch. Boateng is still finding his feet. Barry and De Jong are behind him and only Tevez, Silva and Milner are in front of him.

All 3 have to take the ball with their back to goal. Milner's ball retention is remarkably bad. Silva and Tevez's is great, but when marshalled tightly, Silva struggles sometimes because of his size.

The team is missing Kolarov and Boateng. Then we can realistically challenge for a top 3 place. Then in the summer we will make the necessary changes to push on challenge for the title. I'd be amazed if Barry and Milner were integral parts of our team next year.

To be a fluid unit, there has to be intelligent off the ball movement, backed up with assured control. Neither Barry or Milner have that. Silva does, Balotelli does and Tevez does.

Finally finding a balance between conservative and gung-ho is very difficult. Johnson isn't good enough to start against somebody like Evra, and he would have left us exposed on occasion. Spurs are a perfect example of a gung-ho team. It's great when it works, not so great when you're losing at Bolton and at home to Wigan etc. They have an outlet in Crouch and they have two exciting wingers who lift the crowd. We have one exciting winger and a false 9 striker. We're a completely different team and we are set up to not concede.

Most successful teams are built on top of a solid base. We're in a transitional period where we are gradually becoming a better side. We will probably see the best out of this team towards the end of the campaign unfortunately. For now, we are doing fine. If we lost tonight we'd have been 6 behind United and 5 behind Arsenal, with them both to play away. United and Arsenal are both dropping points against weak teams and we're within touching distance of both teams after having the harder start. We'll be fine. We just have to be patient with the team, the players and the managers.

Only one that made a forward run fact!

Yeah, he reminded of SWP at times. Ran straight at the defenders or when he did get past them, didnt have a fking clue what to do next.

Bring back Jamie pollock.

Didn't have a clue because he had no support. He's out of position, get silva in that spot.

Yaya 1 word keeps poping into my head about him FLOP.

I just dont get him. He is slow he makes Barry look like Usain Bolt. He doesnt offer a lot going forward and is a big pussy. I dont know how many times this season he has pulled out of a tackle the size of the man he needs to man up and fast.

I honestly think he needs to loose a stone or two not able for the quickness of the game and in a way Mancini wants him to play but we cant take a risk of playing him were he played for Barca so we push him forward up the pitch so when he looses the ball it is high up the pitch.

I think he may well be not suited to the English game and if he is willing to put in the effort then we might see a big time player for us. IF he is not up to it then he knows were the door is and we should look for a replacement for him and sell him to the highest bidder.
