Up until the age of 40, I had perfect vision. This then deteriorated and I ended up needing glasses to drive with. My reading vision was unimpaired
Then I developed cataracts - firstly remedied by laser treatment, then (in the last 2 years) by new lenses in both eyes.
These have now settled down.
Now I have perfect vision - for driving/distance. I now need reading glasses!

Exactly the same as me mate except I skipped the laser treatment and went straight into cataract surgery for both eyes. The results were fantastic and my long distance vision was 100% restored and now need reading glasses which isn't a problem.
