Your First Derby Game

I think it was 89 Mike Duxburys testimonial, we won 2 nowt. City end was chockers and it was mental. Trafford Park train station was a bit dicey after iirc.

September 23 1989. Had my legs dangled through the fence on the kippax at the north stand end.

Watching the crowd trouble from near the scoreboard pen and Kippax was an eye opener.

One of the best memories of my childhood.

Got married 2 weeks before this game, the day Clive Allen scored his first goal for us against QPR.

Anyway made sure the honeymoon was only for a week so I’d be back for the derby. Remember giving a friendly ‘beep’ to a car full of Rags on Kings Road after the game. When they all looked over me and my brother gave them the 5 fingers. They nearly drove their car off the road!

13 year old, Dennis Law backheel ,paddock next to the Stretford end. The day I became a city fan. Also the day I first started loathing United fans. They were climbing over the wall at side side of us and pushing past, my dad ended up smacking one of them.

The 5-1, I was 7.

This, after my first season going to City when we got promoted.

73/74. The 4-0 win against the rags in the league Cup. That twat buchan doing the King.

The 5-1. Was the first season I was allowed to go to the games without my dad. Also my first season ticket, a junior one for the Kippax, which I think cost about £40, a lot of money for a schoolkid then
Same for me. Me and a couple of mates, without our Dads I was 12 and I'm sure it was 2.50 to get in at the time - well worth it, even though I got crushed a fair few times!

My first one was incognito, upper stretford at the swamp about 17 or 18 years ago! Travelled over from Ireland with a group of mates who are all rags, wore my top under my jacket in the swamp.
Unfortunately we were turned over 3-1 but SWP scored a lovely goal, nutmegging scholes and drilling into far bottom corner

The one where Roy Keane scored the winner to make it 3-2 after us being 2-0 up at half time. Couple of Quinn goals if my memory serves me right. That big nosed French **** got a couple back for that lot and the ref was a wanker. 1993 I think.

Didn't make it to a derby until 2007. The one Geovanni scored the winner in and Bojinov got taken off early on. Tevez was also playing for them.

We had Kasper Schmeichel in goal for us at the time with Joe Hart starting the season as backup. I decided I didn't like Joe because I thought he swore too much during the warm up.

Not a true derby. Friendly here in Texas. Couple years ago. We lost but got my first real glimpse of a young Phil Foden. My rag mate was even impressed by him. Quick and great on the ball.

Can't remember the first one. In fact, can't remember the last one. But I can remember a reserve derby at Maine Road where the fat bastard Dawson was playing for the Rags, and gave Maradonna a dress rehearsal for his 'hand of God'. Clear as fuckin' day he swung his arm over his head and guided it into the net. Ref didn't want to know, the cheating bastard. That was the day I started to fuck refs off!
You have me confused now DWBe, I always had my first Derby down as 1961, at Maine Road, I can remember being on my Dad's shoulders in the Kippax towards the scoreboard end,I can recall Utd had a corner from the Main Stand /scoreboard end, the ball was put in the net by as you say Dawson who rose and punched it in the net making it looked like he headed it, I can still recall saying to my dad " he punched that Dad " no he didn't my dad said ( he was a rag ) Utd won the game 3.1 Maybe that's why I became a blue, cheating bastard back then, as I say I stand corrected if my memory is playing tricks.

Yep, Nov 93. I met my wife a week later. It softened the blow of that result!

Steve Fleet was in goal and he sprinted after the ref to remonstrate, but the cheating bastard, probably Dawson's Dad, wasn't for listening. I shall consult my printed oracle. They did win 3-1

Edit: 4 Mar 1961 We lost 3-1 but it doesn't give the Rag scorers. Waggy got ours. I shall research further.
