Your ideal central-midfield signing for next summer ?

Yes pal, I was just spitballing. Pep really likes him and has asked Kev all about him.

Apologies, I just equate wingers with midfielders in my minds eye, a bit like I see Jack and Phil?

Obviously, they play across the front three, but in our team, they need to be hardworking and tucking back in.

I would need to see more of Trossard than his purple patch, to form a proper opinion.

For me, the other lad Caceido is the one we need to watch as an outright midfield ball winner?
As much as Id like Bellingham and believe we have a decent chance of getting him I see him as Gundo's replacement.

If we lose Bernardo which is highly likely, we lose technical ability in tight spaces with only Foden having that profile....Bellingham isnt that player and although Grealish has great ball retention he rarely does anything creative with it. Moving Foden inside to replace Bernardo leaves us short outwide...Marhez and Grealih only pass inside and backwards when outwide (maybe this is where Trossard comes in?)

Why would we need Caciedo (looks decent) with Bellingham, Rodri and Phillips all having that in their locker?

Agree, entirely.

His ball over the top the other night for Rashford is a reminder that he has plenty of range and we just need to see how he settles in over second part of the season.

Rodri is certainly going to need the back-up and I'm a sucker for good personalities, and Kalvin seems to be the type of player who has it in him to thrive under Pep.
Kalvin's eye for a pass is exceptional and he certainly will be valuable member of the squad in the second half of the season if he can keep fit.

Bellingham is the perfect replacement signing for Gundogan.

Bernardo has no replacement, so a new contract is the only thing one can do for this generational talent. Question is…Does he want one from City? If not, he needs to be sold for market value.

Bernardo signing a new contract.

As good as bellingham could be he doesnt have the attrbutes that Bernardo has.

I see Bellingham as a replacement for Gundo

But if we lose Bernardo we will struggle to replace him...Foden could move inside but we need another wide player unless Grealish really steps up which he isnt doing on a regular basis at the moment.

Realistically we are going to lose Bernardo, Gundogan Mahrez and maybe even KDB in the next 3 seasons (KDB is playing well but the signs are there of just starting to get on a bit)

While Bellingham has the engine and physicality he doesnt have the technical ability of Bernardo, foden or Kev.....neither does Grealish...only foden has that so I think we need another player in that mould.....no idea who though
I can't think of a single player who comes close to the qualities Bernardo brings to the team. He's one of those players who is frankly irreplaceable. You might get to 75% of the package but you will indeed struggle to get the full whack.

A left-back still would be the priority for me.

However I think we are in need of a new central-midfielder to replace Gundogan/Bernardo if they leave + they are ageing.

I also think a new winger would be good , with Mahrez ageing and potentially Foden will eventually play in the centre so we may be short.

I like Trossard as an option as a winger. Trossard for free would be brilliant business when the likes of Antony and Sancho are reaching £80-100 million.
