What's lescott like at left back, good defender, but what about going forward?

He must be good going forward 12 goals in the last two seasons. He has played left back for everton at times and Im choosing who I think are the best defenders, they should be able to play any position if they're that good. Kompany I think is much needed to get some height at the back. Richards is better going forward but I feel that Zaba is a better all round defender.

12 goals means nothing, most of them probably came from set pieces, what i wanna know is how good he is in an attacking sense bombing forward? I like to see attacking full backs, and Bridge is the best we have at the minute. Lescott to play CB for me.

In that case, no. From what I have seen he isn't that good going forward.

I can't disagree with keeping a back four that hasn't conceeded a goal in prem (only team not to have done so)

Have to look ahead a little just look at the fixture list for December and January, add in FA cup 3rd round, hopefully we will still be in CC as well. Only need the odd injury, suspension we will need a full fit back eight not just a back four to come through that lot unscathed. The reason the rags (have to accept this unfortunately) win things is the size and depth of their squad. As long as MH has drummed that into the players they are professionals and I expect them to act in that manner especially with the wages they are on. Petrov if he doesn't play all season will play for Bulgaria come what may, same with Bellamy and Wales. But there is a simple answer if they don't want to be part of the project and want to go on to pastures new the window opens at the end of December.

Lescott is a CB, we will not be playing him at left back unless Bridge gets injured.

It seems there is quite a debate on whom they prefer playing in defence with Zab/Micah at right back, Dunne/Toure at centre back and now Joleon/Bridge possibly at left back.

Just want to see what people see as our strongest back four now.

Personally i would go for the following...

HOME.

Zab
Toure
Lescott
Bridge

AWAY.

Micah
Toure
Nedum
Lescott

Personaly i woudn't have a "home and Away" back 4, As i think its vital to get as much consistancy in a back line as possible. This is what ALL the succesfull clubs do.

How often did the rags break up their Plug/Vidic partnership if they could help it?

Thats what i'd go for. However I'm still not to sure about Bridge defensively. I'd love to see us put a bid in for Bayern Munichs Phillip Lahm. Best LB in the world....

I actually think the line up will probably be:

Richards ------ Touré ------ Lescot ------ Bridge.

However I wouldn't bet against:

Toure ------ Dunne ------ Lescot ------ Bridge.

But we'll all find out either at Palace on thursday, or more likely Portsmouth next sunday!

Home and Away - that's a quality back 4

Zab, Kompany and maybe Barry as options if we get injuries or need to rest players.

Difficult to see where Dunne fits in now - Ned has the edge on him already imho.
