Zabaleta confirms he will stay at City

Think what? that he should stay or that he is a city legend?

on both 8 years loyal service and I would say a genuine love for the club and Manchester itself is cause enough for him to be considered a legend and also earn him a chance to prove he is still worth keeping.

Also the last 18 months he has played 13 games this season mainly as a sub because of injury thats 8 of the months and the season prior he looked knackered near the end after a long summer in the world cup and playing nearly every games.

And even if he moved on I would hope the club would give him a chance to return in some capacity when his career is over , if he wished too

So should he stay because he has been a city legend. On that criteria when would the cut off point be then?

He has been a legend, he will not be at the club next season.

Its been like watching the family pet slowly ebb away you keep hoping the next day he will suddenly be better but in your heart you know the vet is going to say it would be kinder to put him down.

You must have seen his performances even with zabba tinted glasses on he is half the player he was. Great if he comes back in some other capacity.

seeing as we really haven't had any players who have been held in such a high regard as zaba us since maybe keegans time (SWP, The Goat, Benarbia for example) then I would say that yes he is important as a commodity to the club whether playing every week or not. There has been a lot or moaning about some of our players not giving a shit from many on her and on match days, Zab even on this thread has no bad word said about him I would say Nige was similar and is still well talked about that, he's 31(32 next season) and maybe has a couple of years left before retiring so yes I think he could be kept on and still do a job for us, with after that him hopefully then being kept on in another capacity.

He loves us and our city, for me that's more important than anything, the likes of kolarov can go and I won't give 2 fucks with zaba it's not the same, sentiment should come into it.

Also keeping a player like him doesn't mean there is a scenario where anyone is kept on just for the sake of it so their is not cut off point to worry about.

OK fair enough, Id worry about tarnishing his legacy if he plays to many times more.

If Zabba does want to go i think roma will be his next destination(which he as said in the past But hopefully not yet going by below)

Argentine star Pablo Zabaleta has been a key player for Manchester City in the past few years, and the Citizens have clearly struggled on occasion without him this season.

The 31-year-old has missed several games due to injury, and with his latest fitness problem, he is set to miss the rest of the season. Zabaleta has another year left on his contract at City, and we can't rule out the possibility of him quitting Etihad in the summer.

According to Italian newspaper Messaggero, Inter are keen on signing Zabaleta, after his agent confirmed the possibility of him signing for a club in Italy.

Federico Pastorello told GR Parlamento radio: “Pep Guardiola wants to keep him and he’s been in England for a long time, but he’s close to turning 31 years old and wants to experience a different League.

“We’ll see if it’s this year or the next, but we could see him in Italy shortly.”

It is reported Juventus and Roma are also interested in the player, but Inter are in pole position, as Zabaleta has already played under Mancini.

Guardiola wanting to keep Zabaleta may ease the worry of some fans fearing a mass clear-out. Whilst the Argentine may be in the Autumn of his career, he's been a good part of Manchester City's squad for some time, and it would appear Guardiola has recognised that.

If Pep decides to keep Zaba then the club should be looking to see if he is wiling to go on and do his coaching badges. If he is willing then let him go and study while teaching the under 8/9's the art of defending, maybe even an older group as well. So who knows from there maybe a future manager of the 1st team along side Patrick Vieria.
