Zabaleta confirms he will stay at City

Up to the player. If he wants to be played he needs to do a shit load of training closed season. He doesn't appear to be the sort of guy to just give up to me, so I'm sure he'll have a fitness coach in mind already, and he's planned ahead for what fitness levels he'll have when Guardiola arrives. We've all seen previously that the bloke can defend, and he can bomb forward with the best of them, so I think as long as he sorts the fitness out that he could impress.

Yes - needs a rest and full pre season but fear he won't get it, even with a loss of pace he is still strong, can pass and link up well with players, maybe a shift in position to suit as pep has done with others.

But also he is probably the player who has the biggest raport with the fans and after what has been a few seasons where the footballing management side of the club have had a disconnect with us fans, iconic players are a bridge if you get what I mean.

In the end it is up to him, and the management/dof, maybe he knows he will be second choice and wishes to move to keep a regular playing place or maybe the director of football has decided his time is up, who knows?

Wouldn't that depend on if he plays in Copa America? Not sure if Argentina have announced their squad yet, but if he's in it then that would rule out a decent pre season.

He was magnificent for us in 13/14 but was clearly knackered by the end of the season. Since then he's had two summers disrupted by tournament football and injury. I think he's young enough that if he had a good rest followed by a full pre season he could regain some of his old form. But not if he plays in Copa America.

I have no idea what Zab is thinking.

In fact I have no idea what Vinnie ,Kun,Kdb , Sterling or come to think of it any one connected to the club feels because we never get to here what they say.

The media silence order which obviously comes right from the top is ok when you are winning but is Fookin frustrating when you are not.

Pellegrini's mindset is "don't judge us now , wait to the end of the season and then we analyse ".

Here's an idea , why don't you wake up you old **** and stick your balls on the line before a game and tell it how it is .

Win on Sunday and people will probably remember me fondly as a good manager.
Lose and my reputation will be tarnished for ever.

That is why my team will fight for me this Sunday........

If only.

See you Zab man , love you fella.

There is no room for misty-eyed sentimentality if you want to dine at the top table. The continued strength of the first team has to come first. We cannot carry players who are living off past glories, whoever they are and whatever their legendary status.

Absolutely he belongs in the City hall of fame, alongside Yaya, who is another whose form has dropped off significantly. It remains to be seen for the other "class of 2012" legends, David and Vinny, but for the last couple of seasons the ominous signs have been showing, particularly with persistent niggling injuries and recovery times. I'm hoping David has another couple of years in him, and he can clear this ankle issue, but I am concerned for big Vin.

There are the odd few players who are able to play at a very high level into their mid to late thirties, like that freak Griggs, but for most nature is cruel, speed and reaction times drop off rapidly after thirty or so, sadly it appears Zabba is one of them.

Don't think so.
Zab is looking and playing like an old man.

A couple of years in Italy would revive his career, just look what Evra has done at Juve.

I love Zab but I think us as fans our sometimes happy to have a passenger because he is a fan favourite. He is no where near the player he was a couple of years ago.
I remember Ireland had one good season and then when he was crap after nobody would except it, the same with Elano and Benarbia
The difference these day and especially with Pep coming in there wont be any favors or passengers
I hope Zab comes back next season but only as the player he was not the pale imitation he has been (taking injury in to account)
In fairness to Zabs though if pep says you have a squad role and he says no I want to have a couple more years as a starter I dont think anyone will begrudge him

I'd still keep him over Sagna but it looks like he's going so I'll just wait until it's confirmed and say my goodbyes to a City great.

Looks pretty evident we are after a right back and zab will be off.
