Zabaleta confirms he will stay at City

I will be genuinely devastated when he goes...not felt that way since Bish went to West Ham

Remember that Norwich game? I went to watch bush play several times for West Ham. Used to have a chat with him. Was devastated when we swapped him and Morley for mark ward.

I'm probably in a very small minority, but I always thought Mark Ward did more for City than Bishop, (who let's not forget was relegated with West Ham a couple of years later)

Could use him to collect some debts a few boys owe him I imagine, in terms of football I don't think zab is there anymore. Still arguably my favourite ever player.

I'm a bit conflicted on this one. Of course he is an absolute legend and a huge part of our successes, and I'm hoping against hope he can return to the form of 2 years ago.

Unfortunately I think his legs have gone and it would be heartbreaking to see his decline in front of our very eyes. It's felt awful this season watching players run past him and I think it's only going to get worse.

Saying that, if he has a good rest - hopefully his injury keeps him out of the Argentina squad - and a good pre season, I wouldn't put it past him to get back to his old self, he's a tough fucker and never gives up. Maybe he just needs to cut his head more often as he was always immense with a bandage on.

Also, who knows how Pep's going to set us up? All bets are off as far as (most) of the players are concerned, and he could be rejuvenated under a new manager and be good enough in games where teams aren't running at him all the game.

Told you I was unsure.

Whaaaaa?

Mark Ward was shite..was a disastrous trade..fucking Kendall that..never forgave him

Lol
We'll just have to agree to disagree mate, but I have two memories of Mark Ward's time at Maine Road.
1/Hardly anyone wanted him in the first place.
2/ City finished 89-90 strongly, and did even better the following year.

Bishop only played about 15 games, and was sold with City in danger of relegation. He then joined West Ham, who were relegated two years later.
Personally, I think the 5-1 exaggerated his overall impact, but like I said, I'm probably in a small minority.

Agreed, he was utter shit. Took a decent penalty mind you, not a great deal else to him though. As far as Zab is concerned, I think it is too early to write him off given his injury problems this season. Personally, I wouldn't be in a rush to get rid of him if he's happy to play a part rather than being first name on the team sheet every week. There is talk of Pep replacing Joe (fucking bonkers if so IMO), Zab going, Kompany probably out a lot, Yaya probably going (rightly IMO). We are in danger of losing too many big characters from the team/matchday dressing room all in one go, players who have dragged us through games when necessary in the past. We have to be careful IMO, evolution not revolution and all that.

Zabba is a City legend in my eyes but he's too slow now, we need pace in defence and Pep will demand that too.. I would like to see him coaching at the club when he hangs his boots up, he loves City and always puts a shift in..!
