Zabaleta confirms he will stay at City

If Arteta can hang up his boots to become Pep's assistant, then surely someone who is City through and through, can be given a role at City? with the amount of Spanish speaking players we have had/have/will have, it could be a good move if he can go and get his coaching badges, become some kind of defensive coach at City and also help with their integration?
We need to show some continuity, and what better way to show how a "jouneyman" defender can become the best full back in the Prem, and become a City Legend in the process?

Are you insinuating Zaba is a "journeyman"??

Like fook he is, if so and an insult to what he's done for our club and team!

Daft tw@...

Would love to keep him, especially as we will only get circa 2.5m for him, but fail to see any role he could play

Right back ?

Or are you expecting Sagna and Maffeo to play all the games, plenty of game time for all of them imo, this was the problem in the first place, Zabs got burned out because sagna just wasn't at the races in his first season here.

Bit harsh lol. I think it's fair to say he was before he arrived with us? He improved immeasurably to become magnificent and indeed reach best in the league status after joining City, which I think was the OP's point?

You need to reread what he typed and get a swift edit in.

The clue in his sentence would be "best fullback in the prem"

A journeyman is someone who goes from club to club, never really impressing, just doing a job. Alex Bruce is a journeyman.

Zabaleta has only played for 3 clubs - the club who's academy he came through, Espanyol who brought him to Europe at 21, and us.

He's no more of a journeyman than Aguero

No, it goes to show that the poster knew NOTHING about Zabba before he joined us.

I happened to watch him play in the U20 World Cup, which I think Aguero also played, and I thought he was outstanding. Even back then, I wished for us to put in for him as I thought he were outstanding! I followed his career to Espanyol, so imagine my delight when we got him as scribed in the annals of Bluemoon, long ago!

Yes, he's a committed player and yes, he improved, but I'll tell you what "journeyman" is never a description for him!

Give over!

Really ?

He said Zabs went from a journeyman footballer to the best fullback in the prem, how is that him slagging him off ?

There was plenty of people on here that thought Zabs was poor in his first season and wanted Micah back as right back after his injury problems, that is why Zabs is liked by us fans, he grew with the squad as we got better and better and as the poster said he became the best right back in the prem during Mancini's reign.

So give over yourself calling people a daft twat for nothing.

Edit journeyman also implies not a top class player, but yes the other poster is right originally you would call a player of many clubs a journeyman footballer, descriptions do change or get blurred overtime.

If you didn't understand the original posters intent with his praise then there is no helping you really.

Anyway not sure why we are arguing, I want Zabs to stay, he has been my favourite player since we struck lucky, his attitude and application and no little skill have made him the legend he is.

How does one "praise" the wrong notion in the first place?

Remember, when Zabba came over, it was EXPECTED that continental players should just 'adapt' to the Prem! Now we know there has to a grace period to adjust, most of the time! I saw his quality before and hoped he'd prove me right.

You and the poster may have seen him as a "journeyman", but not me or others that give players a chance to settle.
