Etihad atmosphere

The atmosphere was actually half decent in the South Stand - it just didn't spread to other areas of the ground. And I'm not knocking you because you can't help it if you have to work and can't get there but one of those "embarrassing" empty seats was yours! Unless someone else had your ticket of course ;)
Someone else had my ticket.
Be difficult for me too go I'm 120 miless away working nights

Last night was always going to be a bit flat, relatively late fixture change, people having to change work commitments, shite opposition not interested in playing football and so on. I had to change my working hours myself.
Re the family stand, I just think it's too big and maybe on night games some people don't bring the younger kids because of the late bedtime on a school night.

I was getting texts for most of the second half from reds and scousers taking the piss about empty seats, but really if that's their main ammunition ..............

Should be like water off a ducks back to be honest - just fuck the pathetic bastards !

I'm working g in darlington this week.
So had to miss the game.
I watched the game and have to say the atmosphere was embarrassing.
And the amount of empty seats was equally embarrassing it's no wonder people take the piss out if us.

Only a problem if you take notice of the stupid twats.

i agree it was embarrassing. I'm not usually bothered by it, but the sheer number was ridiculous, especially in the family stand. i know it was short notice and some people have genuine reasons, but if we were playing united or some other big team it would have been full.
Try selling your seat for a midweek fixture against teams like Stoke and wait for the buyers hammering down your door! You'll have a long wait. For Utd you'll get top dollar and it'll be sold in a flash. That's the reason. It's not embarrassing at all. The club offer fair priced season tickets, and I bet a lot who couldn't make it tried to sell them on, but couldn't. It's not a massive financial loss to just miss the game in the end.

If the club don't want visibility of empty seats, then they need to reconfigure the stadium. Or perhaps a seat-swap system to fill the lower tiers. That said, no spare seats near me last night.

Imo anybody who is concerned about comments from Rags, Dippers , concerning empty seats needs to grow a thicker skin.

Texts/posts from both sets of fuckwits need to be treated with the contempt that they deserve . Having billions of total planks and glory hunters making stupid jibes and trying to take the piss is to quote a phrase - " like being savaged by a dead sheep " and best totally ignored.

I'm confused.

if every game was full with atmosphere then what differentiates between a big game and a normal game?

Every team in the world has less fans for mundane games.

Can't really understand people not understanding that. Strange.

The stadium send pretty full to me. But with 10 minutes remaining and the game still in the balance it was half empty. That's what was embarrassing.

Shift the family stand somewhere else, it's never full and the section is just too big for it. Put them in the third tier south, and bring those upstairs who wanna create noise down and put them where the family stand is. Keep ticket prices the same, the movement of singers from 3rd tier on cheap tickets could help the spread of singing at the other side of the ground. Need to shift the away fans and connect south and Kippax, even simply swapping Kippax singing area with away fans would combine us and still have the away fans nearby to help boost the atmosphere

Thought the attendance and atmosphere was fine for a televised rearranged game against Stoke. South stand were noisy and vocal throughout but others were joining in. Like many, I wish that everyone stayed to the final whistle but each to their own. Maybe if we had a transport infrastructure that was fit for purpose things would be different.

I went, but I wish to fuck I hadn't, 5 and half hours to get there, same to get back due to road closures, will seriously think about doing a midweek home game again, seeing as I lost half a days money from work, and felt like crap all day yesterday due to only having less than 3 hours sleep !

That is dedication. I struggle to get motivated for midweek games when living 15 miles away.

Dug this up.

Thought the 1st half support was amazing today, from the beginning to end. Don't think United's players have heard that level of support from home fans in the PL before. It must have rattled them? Then we collapsed at the start of the 2nd half, and the Etihad went understandably flat. Such a shame the team and the fans couldn't see it through to the end of the match. What an atmosphere and party that would have been at the end of the match. Huddersfield it is then.

If we can repeat it against Liverpool, but this time for 90 minutes, I feel we will win the tie.

Yes wrote this in another thread. Went to Anfield on Wednesday and after all the hype today was much better.

SSL3 was buzzing throughout that first half and, maybe it was a coincidence, but the songs being sung were the simple ones everybody knows such as Blue Moon, best team in the land, stand up if you love city, Guardiola, were not really here, rather than some obscure edin dzeko one etc.

Like you said shame the match switched and the atmosphere accordingly.

It was superb in the first half, doubt you would hear anywhere louder in the country. Second half it returned to normal which was frustrating. Proves that it can be done! Let's hope for the 1st half version rather than the 2nd on Tuesday.
