Summer Transfers

All pep has to teach him is how to pass. There is a worldie in that kid.

I have never seen a player make Kante look ordinary like Traore does. Just blows by Kante constantly and with ease. It looks like Kante is standing still.

Everytime I watch him he is a problem for everyone around (Including his own teammates :p) Just has to learn a little bit of passing and anticipation and he might just go bonkers.

If they drop, we really should pick him up.

Yeah, but the problem is he's a graduate of the most pass-intensive academy in the world. From the time he was a boy he was told to pass, pass, pass and absolutely none of it went in. I don't know that Guardiola can do what 11 years at Barcelona could not.

Also IIRC correctly his exit from Barcelona came with a lot of talk about his attitude not being great and not really having what it takes to be their sort of calibre player. Whether that's even true or not, that definitely seemed to be the barcelona opinion so I expect that's the kind of reference Pep would get if he phoned up one of his old friends to ask about him.

It crossed my mind as a potential signing but I don't think anything would come of it. Would much rather Roberts.

His pace and dribbling ability is insanely good, I think he could be a great 3rd winger for us.

He has no end product. Part of the reason we are where we are right now is because we fail to take our chances. This kid ain't gonna improve us going forward if we get him.

hes been terrible at boro ( unless I've got the wrong one) patrick roberts has more potential and will be better
Same one. His overall game is underwhelming. But what he does well, pace, power, balance and dribbling, he does it better than anyone out there.

The goal is not to get him to be a starter for City, but rather a guy who comes off the bench to spell Sterling or Sane. The idea of him running at a tired defense for 20 minutes is a total mind fuxk.

And I think putting him around better more accurate players who have possession 60% of the time will change his potential drastically.

Right now he spends most of the time on defense helping form a bank of 2 fours, then his team gets the ball on shelter skelter mode and he flies past 4 to 5 defenders who are trying specifically to bring him down as he rumbles 40 yards then stumbles into a poor cross or shot.

I can easily see how that wouldn't be his life playing as a sub for a top club. Unlikely to happen, but the path to exceptional sub status is there.

Patrick Roberts is a better overall footballer, this kid has a few worldie tools in his box, that some of the very best in the game don't have. The part he lacks are teachable. I can teach him the basics:

Pick your spots.
1. Only go in attack mode when you are in the final 3rd or its a counter.
2. Pass short and quickly everywhere else.
3. Watch Sane and Sterling movement in practice
4. Cut off that horrific blonde hawk. You look stupid.
Those 4 alone will get him far enough ahead and let his natural talent come out.

I know he looks like a hard headed guy. And no one who comes out od Barca' youth program should be this poor. But I think some of it has to do with Boro. He is an inferior Sterling, passing and control wise. Yet if he keeps it simple most times and only goes beast mode 5 -6 times a game he could be a menace.

I'll definitely take him over Roberts. Just on potential.

I can't believe you can seriously think he's got more potential than Roberts.

He's got more potential than Roberts if he completely reinvents himself and starts doing two things, two massive separate core football things, passing and finishing - that he's never ever done let alone shown the ability to do well.

You might as well say Kolarov has the potential to be Maldini....as long as he turns into a completely different player.

His decision making is his greatest flaw. Not passing perse. His technique is just fine and would matchup averagely with that of a decent winger.

What he doesn't have can be thought. I.e. improved decision making. What he has on the other hand is unteachable, and scarce.

Hence why ill take his potential over Roberts. The likely payoff is greater. For a backup winger, I'll take the greater likely payoff and higher risk.

Unfortunately pep doesn't have a magic wand
I think you overestimate his problem. Domalino thinks he might have some personality issues, but if that's not the case, he is very teachable. His technique is good. Its his decision making that needs improving.

Really the goal here is to teach him to do less. Its actually one of the simpler fixes out there. Be has been on the wrong teams too long, and he is being type casted.

I'm not sure what his personality is like, I don't really pay attention to those types of things. My argument is that he has no end product and that's basing it off what I've seen of him so far this season, and his stats this season suggests so too. That's something no one can teach (i.e. pep) ....for instance, look at Mbappe...his decision making is something else considering his age. He doesn't have to think twice when going for goal or making a pass...it comes to him naturally. He pretty much plays like a 24 year old despite being only 18/19. Same can't be said for traore though.

It's all well and good going past 5 or 6 players but when you can't cross a ball into the box or score goals it means fuck all :-)

Well comparing him to Mbappe is a bit excessive. We are trying to acquire an impact sub here, not a likely future Ballon dor.

So at 21, there is ample time and opportunity to teach a player to do less. Its the easiest thing to teach.

Addition by subtraction. I have faith it could be done.

What are we gonna do when the likes of sane or sterling get injured and we have to rely on someone with no end product?

Debryune starts wide, Gundo or Silva in the middle and he still serves the sub that comes in with 20-25 minutes left.

He should be up to speed in 6 months.

Adama has more force, pace, strength, height, ball retention and dribbling skills compared to Roberts. He is a like a raw version of Sanchez, just needs a world class manager to develop his talent. I would take him of Roberts any day.
