I think we just needed a deflection, a break of the ball, a long shot, goal from a set-piece. Given our dominance the odds of something like that happening are decent, just didn't fall that way. They defended so deep and in so many numbers, you need to be Messi to dribble through. Again we weren't at our best, not arguing we were amazing, but i don't think it was poor either. Sterling and especially Sane's movement wasn't good enough, Aguero had a bunch of half chances and you'd expect him to take one at least, but better teams that ourselves have struggled to break teams down like that. We're not talking about Middlesbrough either, they have good, experienced players and a manager who specialises in this type of performance. To win that kind of match is one of the hardest things in football.
Agree we miss Silva and have no-one else like him, but we still created enough openings to score, and with the first goal it changes the whole game.
