Popped over to see if they weren't talking about us as there not bothered (after this morning's superb news)

A new veiled thread to talk about us
I agree we are under big pressure to win the league to be fair. No excuses after this summer. The biggest difference is we've spent a fortune and have a squad that SHOULD win it, they've spent a fortune and will probably be in a top 4 battle again.

Just saw this on Red Cafe:

"City are raising an interesting questiin, for me.

We've clearly got the same spending power that City have. However City seem to pay whatever it takes, while we're sticking to some sort of financial morals, for lack of a better phrase. We seem keen to do it on our terms while City are just meeting selling clubs valuations.

With City you get the feeling if they wanted Perisic, they would've paid the €50m or whatever Inter wanted.

Which do you prefer? Pay whatever it takes or have your own valuation and pretty much stick to that?"

United 'sticking to financial morals' nearly had me spitting my Peroni out!

10th for them like Chelsea. Once Maureen takes it too far with one of their players then mutiny ensues

All I read is talk about how we spend obscene money on players while they have got it just right in their valuation of their purchase. Talk about double standards and tinted glasses.

Pep has spent £375m so far in two seasons but on 12 first team players.
Mourinho has spent £256m in the same time, but on 6 first team players (including a free Inrahimovic)

We can literally field a completely new team with our new 12 players while they have just lost a 35 year old and left with 5 purchases. From a financial standpoint, we have a better return of investment in the long run.

Haha that must be a windup! This coming from a set of supporters who question the investment on a women's team as a waste of money but paying a £100m valuation in a one way race for Pogba is the epitome of moral.

They are shitting it. The fear is palpable. Love it

It's the lack of mathematical comprehension that cracks me up.

Of course the financial outlay of buying 12 apples will be more than a buy 5 get 1 free. Even if we compare our 5 most expensive purchases against their 5, they have spent £45m+ more than us.

Another from across the road, they just don't get it do they ?

I get the spreading the transfer fee over 5 years or so but have City not already done that the last few seasons? Just means if the owners leave the club is virtually guaranteed to be liquidated never to be seen again.

They don't get It, because they don't want to.

It doesn't fit the agenda.

Simple as that.

Just had a great laugh with a couple of United mates complaining about City buying all these players. These are the same guys who were saying a few weeks ago that our defence is crap and basically we need a completely new defence. Now that we are doing exactly that they are moaning about it....it really is hilarious talking to these guys.

They're still clinging onto the vain hope of our owner getting bored! Love it.

regardless of what we think about that lot....they will be a threat this year....they have a very strong powerful team and will simply steam roller a lot of teams in the league with their route one style, lump it into the box/long ball over the top as we saw against us in the friendly the other day.....they are quick as well so again it fits PEG's way of playing on the break from a 10 man defensive line.

Lukaku improves them as Bignose was so immobile and had little pace whereas Lukaku will run the channels, his movement is good and he is quick...he will score a lot of goals for them as they will play to his strengths (which is the way they play anyway).

I'm not convinced. Route one hoofball is fine for the perennial mid-table clubs, because they are content just to be in the Prem, and their chairmen are content as long as gate receipts are healthy. This isn't the case with the rags. They are a 'Hollywood' club, all glitz and glamour. They have to be in the limelight, paparazzi chasing after them all the time, having the club name splashed over every tabloid in the world. Pogba and others like him are are there to promote an image, maintain the hype and the myth for their followers in the far east. And just like their 'Tinsel Town' counterparts they're as fake as Katie Price's mammary glands.

Peg will do what he's always done, send his team out not to lose. They will once again have so many 0-0 draws that winning the Prem will be impossible for them. For my money any one who finishes above us will be the champions. And that certainly won't be the rags.

Rojo will be a loss to them. Is this a recent injury or a carry over from last season?

I agree with all of that but the addition of Lukaku gives them that ability to turn a lot of those 0-0's into 1-0's in their favour. He is a very good forward and perfect for PEG.
