It's Quiet - a new dawn

But is he really a once in a generation player ? I struggle to see how he is better than Jesus.

I don't know the answer to whether he is or not. I have not seen enough of either Mbappe or Jesus for that matter to make a judgement (fence sitting, I know). But if he goes onto Ronaldo, Messi type statue then it will prove a bargain.

Not sure that's true. If Jesus goes on to Ronaldo, Messi status it will be a bargain. If Mbappe does, he was still six times the price of Jesus, but at least he's playing for you and not against you.

If mbappe goes on to reach messi ronaldo level it won't be a bargain it would be getting what you paid for. If Jesus does ten it would be a bargain.

It might not look a bargain now, but if he plays 10 years for us it could look like small change. If we want to be the best then we must compete and pay with the best

Weird isn't it how everyone's treating him like he's as good as Messi right now, yes he had a very good season but is that enough to justify a reported £160m?
No one is saying he's as good as Messi. But the potential is there for a player to progress to that status in the future.
also we have to look at tactics..
Bernado Silva and Benjamin Mendy played integral parts in dumping us out of the CL...they cant do that next season can they LOl.

Another player did his bit too... oh what was his name ??? ..................oh Yeah Kylian Mbappe..

Cause and effect fella. A player scoring for us means hes not scoring against us.

I think a lot of folk are getting carried away this evening thinking that we are completely transformed with the addition of Sanchez and Mbappe (if we got both or either). It's a huge step forward for the better obviously but a few hours back we were fretting about the CB and CM/DM situations. ;-)

There's still another window or two to get us to the absolutely top notch squad that'll hopefully deliver immense football and the rewards that should follow.
Can't wait for the season to start. :-)

We would be mad not to go for cover for vinny in this window, also hoping john pushes on from last season is a leap of faith,i hope we are sorting out someone now

Great window so far but it only brings our 1st eleven up to near Chelsea standards.
Unless Pep thinks Tony A is up to the job we are a Kompany injury away from disaster.
We have also failed to upgrade in DM. Here we have an immobile but still poweeful YaYa and we also have Fernandinho, who doesn't quite have the pace he had 3 seasons ago and commits to many rash tackles. Personally I don't think a single DM works in the PL and though the aquisition of good fullbacks helps, in no longer leaving the DM isolated, I still think we will get outnumbered far too often in this key area of the pitch. Deploying KDB or Gundogan as box-to-box mids may help limit the damage but they are not DMs.
Then we have the inability of our forwards, wingers and AMs to convert our chances. A fully fit Jesus helps and Bernardo takes the pressure off Merlin somewhat. But we need another player who can play wide or centre who knows where the goal is. Sanchez would deliver this but I don't think that will happen this summer as Arsenal would rather loose £50m+ than allow him to come to us.

I was absolutely hammered for saying Sergio might leave this summer if we get our intended targets.

Do people still think Sergio would accept a diminished role. I just can't see it?

Better tune at least this morning Tolm.

I kinda agree it's hard to see someone of his stature staying in that situation. Just in the back of my mind is that record. Him being the clubs highest goal scorer. He's so close. It's why I couldn't see Rooney leaving Utd last summer. It feels the same to me.

Some rags on twitter are saying that they're the only club that could spend that amount of money and rival Real for a player hahaha

Do they not know what year it is?
