Alexis Sanchez

He looks like a player Kolasinic. We were linked with him too. Papers saying that Arsenal offering improved terms to Sanchez. Dont know if its true. I'd be quite happy if he stays at Arsenal as I feel City need young blood and both Aguero and Sanchez have had their best days. If City keep our powder dry, next Summer we can almost pick and choose providing we have a good season next year.

Wont wish you good luck tomorrow because you are one of our rivals. Hope you stick around though. It's always interesting to hear what other fans think.

Cheers Marv, ill probably still kick around while i'm welcome, think i've said before i've been a member a few years now but only popped in & out previously. Once folk start to realise i'm not a WUM (with good reason to be sceptical), most have been pretty good to an outsider like me on here.

There's been 'chat' the past week of a new contract offer to Sanchez. Rumours going about it could includes a buyout clause at the end of the season as a way of letting him leave if we don't get Champions League or if he still wanted out. I didn't post before as it was just rumours, plus i'm not sure why he would actually sign it, considering the options will surely be better for him if he leaves on a free. The only thing i can think is the carrot of £300k just now plus the added security of a long term deal might make it worth considering, but i still can't see it.

As others have said, it might just be a final offer, & if he doesn't sign it then we'll sell him.

Think your spot on

Last throw of the dice

Offer a more than decent amount per week and install conditions in his contract that suit both parties.

Still can't see him signing an extension as you say

Makes sense. It kind of 'smokes out' whether he's just negotiating for more money.

I'd like to echo Marv btw, been good to have your perspective this window.

Hopefully with Mbappe seemingly Paris bound it will focus City's minds on Sanchez. Whilst there was still a chance of getting Mbappe, maybe the club wanted to keep their options open. With one avenue looking like it's closed, hopefully we'll now go all out for the other. Still think there's a very real possibility that we end up with neither though. Not that that would worry me unduly. We've looked good in pre-season, and it will present greater opportunities for Foden and Diaz.

Getting boring now to be honest. Either he wants to come or doesn't? Either transfer request or say so we can move on

Agree with the comments on Mbappe but does concern me a little that we have let Nacho go with no replacement

We have Jesus and Aguero as our main scorers but little else from any others.

I wonder if we could yet go for a short term solution if we fail to get Sanchez or Mbappe. Someone like Llorente, a senior player who wouldn't mind being a back up option. Guardiola talked about needing someone "different", so perhaps a more physical centre forward could fit the bill? Someone to get on the end of Mendy's crosses perhaps.

Agree that it would be odd if we've let Iheanacho go without replacing him.

Unless I'm wrong I think Pep was asked about a Llorente type of player to give us something different and he said it wasn't an option. There's got to be options for the backup out there, but I've still got a flicker of hope that Arsenal might sell Alexis.

Still never wanted us to get him, Sane, Sterling, Aguero and Jesus is enough fire power for me, with KDB and the Silva's getting a few as well. Also gives Diaz a chance to get some games.

Switch to 3-5-2 essentially allows Sane and Sterling to play as one of the strikers, with Sane also able to play LWB. Can see all 4 interchanged regularly.
It certainly sounds like enough firepower, but the amount of games I watched last season (and to a certain extent preseason) where we missed chance after chance which in turn lead to a disappointing result was very significant. I think we need a goal scoring midfielder or a good striker who can drop deep and help maintain our dominating midfield presence.

Either way it's happy times isn't it when you put it like that.

Imagine our 'B' side for the league cup.

Cos we've not even put a bid in? Laughable really

How do you know what we have or have not done?

This summer has taught everyone that our transfer business is done very much in secret and out of the media.

Arsenal and Sanchez know full well we are in for the lad and that is all that matters.

Yeah it is feasible we are allowing Arsenal to sign a replacement before bidding ourselves. Sanchez is ready made to go into our team so we don't have to rush to get him in.
