When Pep joined us I think he was surprised at just how good Fern was.

To be the best central midfield player in the country at his age is awesome and he just seems to be getting better.

Souness;
"Fernandinho is easily the best central midfielder in our country right now. The amount of work he gets through is overlooked by the technique he has as well. When he wins it, puts a tackle in, he gets his head up and makes the best pass that’s on offer."

I think it's the other way round. His supreme passing and technical ability is overlooked by the 'hard work' he puts in. He's one of the best passing central midfielders in world football.

He is the most complete midfielder in the world, and maybe even the best player to ever pull on a City shirt. He’s that good. Every week.

Finally, a game worth all the adulation he normally gets prematurely.

Hats off, best player on the field by a mile. But I must admit (especially as someone who didn't rate him at the time, Fabihno sure would have been a great understudy. As he pings the ball perhaps even better than Dihno).

Anyway, definitely his most impressive gamegin a City shirt, and perhaps his most impressive game ever!!!

What is going on on the MOTM thread right now is a travesty. I'm sorry. Some late voters need to straighten that out.

Bossing midfield vs dippers. Wow.

I often had the impression he is struggling in big matches, but my arse he has shown an incredible match tonight.
Still can't believe how good he was. Out of this world.

Not sure what we will do when he's gone. Practically an irreplaceable player given his range of talents.

Other than, of course, David Silva, possibly the most underrated midfielder of this era.

Starting to get more accolades of late, and I think this performance will help gain him attention.

Another one of ours you have to struggle to find reasons to have a problem with as a fan even when you're grumpy and blaming every player on the pitch for things.

What a signing he's been for City already(can we dig up all those social media posts about what we paid for him?) and what a fantastic performance tonight.

He continues to be one of my favourite players and still somehow continues to surprise me, even though I already rate him.
