VAR (PL introduction 2019)

To be fair though, they have no more idea what's going on than you do in the stadium, they are only watching their own replays, but they have no idea what is being said off camera, and until everyone, fans in the stadium, fans on TV, and the TV commentary team can hear it, its bent not very transparent.
I thought VAR was based on Rugby where the Ref is miked up so everyone can hear and understand his reasoning i believe this is how Rugby`s Refs earned their respect, I watched enough of VAR in Europe over the weekend to know it does not work

People aren't "against it", people are against how its being used, ie with no transparency.
Forget the transparency it's being used incorrectly to start with as wrong decisions are still being given. Why weren't we given a penalty when Nmecha was fouled last night? I am not sure why the ref didn't give in the first place but then VAR said no pen when if you look it's a clear shove with the elbow into the rib/back area, not shoulder to shoulder.

It would appear that its use is still entirely subjective, regardless of the incident and thus it will not stop injustice or cheating and i dont use that word lightly.

Certain teams and players will constantly benefit from its use whilst others will get fuck all and shafted by it.

They have the audio available with Rugby, why not for Football?? It would give the impression of impartiality, no hiding for the officials. Put it on a big screen and let the fans see it too. There will always be doubters, but as long as there’s complete transparency it should be accepted. There will always be the odd fcuk up, but there are so many camera angles, there shouldn’t be any doubt.
There will be no hiding for the sly cnuts then.

Mods feel free to move it to a var thread if there is one .

Is VAR going to be used in the fa cup final ?. Wembley isn't a premiership ground so I guess not. But a premiership team uses it as their home ground so it is !. And if spurs make the final it will be used as it's their home ground. If two other teams make the final it isn't their home ground so it won't be used !!

Is this just another cock up by the fa , I mean how can you have two matches being played at the same time played under different rules in the same competition

Premier League .

Im for Var but what is a worry is the words are it has to be a clear mistake! So referee blows whistle for a penalty goes to var and its a 50/50 pen but its given because no concrete evidence to over turn it! So the likes of Liverpool the scum get penalties for next to nowt while we can have players be fouled in the box continually get nowt. Another thing I dont like is its the same bias blinkered referees in the box making the decisions on var incedents..

Rather easily, when it's the PIss Up In A Brewery Organisation (commonly known as the FArce) who are in charge. I'm waiting for next season's matches in the FArce Cup to go back to using a rope for a crossbar - but only at one end, as a pilot!

This, I think, is just what the governing bodies of the sport don't want! We even get idiots saying that getting decisions wrong is part and parcel of the game!

The key one for me is when a ref does not give a penalty but then gets the whisper in his ear to review it again. If he the still turns the penalty down then you have to question their motives,

Has been, is, and will be an absolute disaster

Mainly due to the absence of transparency and refusal to air dialogue of decision makers by the sport’s governing bodies

You have to wonder why that might be...

So you’ve got no issue with the technology, just its application?

I’ve got to be honest in that I hate the idea of it but I get that it will be inevitable.

What I really hate is the prospect of over turning goals for 1mm offside decisions. Would prefer some form of cricket style umpires call defence for the really tight calls. Otherwise you undermine the officials.

It should be for the absolute howlers (taking offside, the spurs away call a couple of years back against us for instance).

What is really winding me up is the fact that absolutely terrible decisions aren’t getting overturned by it - Burton and Burnley games for us had clear penalties reviewed and not given.

I'm surprised that the referees go along with the way they're being told to use it. If I was a ref, I'd want the process to be like it is in other sports. That way I would be seen and heard to be on the level. I wouldn't want all this secrecy around the process. It casts doubt on their integrity. They've had scandals in Italy and Germany. I'd want to be above suspicion.

VAR won't work till they change certain rules in the game, the idots working var are bound by rules like offside if a part of the body that you can score with deems you offside etc, remove if level or just in front and decision would be easier, as for penalties it will always be inconclusive because footballer's cheat, some more than others, nobody when falling to the ground rasies there arms in the air, ala salah. You automatically put your hands out to stop you hitting the ground in front of you. Basic common knowledge needs to be used.

They’re not trying to make the game fairer, they’re buckling under the pressure to implement technology they didn’t want in the first place.
Everything we’ve seen so far is the authorities trying to figure out a way of implementing VAR to keep people sweet whilst maintaining their ultimate control of the rules, the interpretation of the rules and the enforcement of the rules.

That's exactly why they go along with it, they can do whatever they want, and are then backed by the same idiots in the studio/caravan/headquarters. Its not "on the level", if it was, then the already miked up refs would be telling those in the stadium why a decision is being looked at, they don't want it, nor does the FA, because they FA/refs can create the outcome they want/are asked for.

Unfortunately, some clubs are too good, so their influence is minimal.
