Liverpool thread 2018/19

I'm surprised at the number of people who seem to want them to lose this tie. If they're eliminated, they'll have a chance to rest players and focus soley on the league. You might argue that a defeat would demoralize them and affect their league form but there's no indication that this might happen.

I think it's better if Liverpool win and draw Atletico. The matches would be absolutely brutal. Let's see how they cope with a match every 3 days, with that thin squad.
I want Liverpool to get a last minute equaliser and to do that, they will have to run themselves into the ground.
Doesn’t matter who they play at the weekend, it will feel like Barca, when your legs feel like lead.

OR, it goes to extra time and that drains them more than anything else.

Lose VDK, Salah and Mane to injuries and get hammered 6-0. Now if Carling did champions league nights.....

Not Salah, we don't want him injured, he's playing like a sick dog and Shaqiri would probably be an improvement if Klopp had the judgement/bollocks to drop him while he's fit.
Now Mané getting injured and Origi coming in, that sounds good.

If they continue their form since ditching the FA cup to focus on the league, the result against krautrags really is irrelevant to the title.

in terms of the chumps league we should beat either if we can overcome the bent officials and var van.

Should of said after extra time, never crossed my mind.
Wembley was a physical drain on us, see how Liverpool cope with it. Still want that last minute equaliser to send them through.

That means another set of physically and mentally demanding games.

Have to admire their lack of self-awareness at times. We’re almost universally unpopular these days, yet still most neutrals would prefer us to win the league. Says a lot about them.

At least this Scouse fan acknowledges that rival fans don't want them to win it. A large section of their support are in complete denial and think everyone loves them.

The thing that gets me about Liverpool and maybe more so the media, is that they are the centre of attention. Have been all season. So if we do win the league this season, guaranteed most neutrals will only remember Liverpool. It was the same of the 2013/14 season. Even though we won the league that season I bet if you were to ask most non City football fans, what they remember about that season it'd be Liverpool, Suarez, their "SAS". Bet most neutrals wouldn't even know that Yaya scored 20 goals that season from midfield. When you have ex Liverpool players as pundits, it allows them to push the narrative to whatever they want. Look at last season. The amount of journos that were asking the question, are we the best side in PL side in history? most of the time it was simply to put as down by saying that we wouldn't be able to hold up against the invincibles and United 99. If we do win the league this season, I'm willing to bet that most people will only remember Liverpool.

I hope for Liverpool’s sake that Burnley don’t have a load of injuries first-half forcing them to make all of their substitutions and second-half have players unable to function due to injury.

Or there’s weather.

Or worse still grass.
Or that they're gifted an offside goal by the officials or anything terribly unlucky like that...

The trophy will remind them though
