Away tickets

It's the biggest pisstake ever that potentially someone with only one year being a seasoncard holder at the age of 20, could get a derby ticket over my mates lad aged 27 with a shit load of points, why 18-25?

I mean who's even fuckin agreeing to this shit?
Our reps seem to be.

Although, to be fair, we have won a concession, in that not all 5% will come from seasoncard holders, it’s going to be shared out amongst all the groups, pfft

True, I know we've been over this several times as I'm sure you said your lad was around this age too. I just think its a kick in the bollocks to the next age bracket up who have been going since kids.

From my understanding of the earlier posts in this and the City Matters forum thread, that the allocation of tickets to corporate, Supporters Clubs and the Club were not up for discussion at any time.
The two things raised were:
  1. An allocation for 18-25 year olds because they are an under represented group at seasoncard level
  2. Having more tickets go to people on lower points.

Although there’s absolutely no evidence that either:
  1. 18-25 year olds don’t buy season cards because they can’t get away tickets. It could be that the seasoncards are too expensive for that demographic so why not lower the cost for everyone under the age of 25.
  2. Away tickets aren’t available to people on lower points. The facts state that 15 games this season will have gone to at least General Sale and that a further six games sold out below 17,000 points.
Neither evidence or facts are something the forum seems to want to deal with and, instead, use myths, rumours and individual anecdotes to twist and frame the agenda for the both the club and individuals involved.
The irony is re the 18-25 year old group is that these are the very group of people who appear at all away games coked out of their heads. How are they currently getting their tickets? Season cards for that age group are too expensive which is why they aren’t at home games in their thousands. Look at old games and see how many kids are standing with their mates in the kippax. Maybe a section of the family stand can be given over to this age group - unreserved seating so mates can all sit together. The other irony is that people on lower points can get tickets if the numbers being hived off were altered. Calling them loyalty points and then rewarding the wealthy regardless of club affiliation at the expense of the loyal fans is wrong. Are they really giving 60% to season card holders or is it already less? Anyone find it odd that the criteria for Brighton went down to 17k I think but it sold out at 19.5k. The whole away allocation needs sorting properly before next season starts or should I say the blatant abuse by the club and supporter branches needs to be stopped

Very difficult to argue against what you’re saying to be fair. A bit of transparency from the club for the more popular fixtures could provide some useful info for supporters that are paying for platinum season tickets though.

I don’t believe that doing the 15 games that went on general sale will help you catch up and get a ticket for the more popular fixtures, mainly due to an increased demand from those that have a few extra quid. If the club were more transparent and truthful as to how many of an allocation go where then it’d help many season card holders decide whether paying £50 extra is worth it.

I’ve probably not needed to be platinum for any of the away games I’ve actually qualified for this season or even last season. I did however miss out on Schalke by a measly 100 points or summat though so maybe I am catching but just not noticing.

Good points raised though
Tbf I’ve never spouted the, go to all the games and you’ll catch up line, because, in general, you won’t.

I’ve been keeping a record of allocations, costs, points started at, points sold out at for quite some time.
But there has been a marked difference between games selling on high points and those not selling out at all this season. More than any time in the last five years.

So, for the first time, people will have genuinely been able to keep up and catch up this year.
I don’t know whether it’s the corporates are bored as there’s few new grounds to attend, not arsed with Euro aways anymore, costs, lethargy or perhaps there’s fewer of us old buggers around and so the young uns are now stepping into our places.

One thing struck me when I got my Newport ticket, it was the first time I had got a concessionary ticket for 45 years. And you know what, I realised that if I couldn’t go I couldn’t pass it on to one of my kids, as they are adults. Maybe that’s coming into play.

I can’t agree with the 18-25 year olds are coke heads. My three kids have all been to away games and don’t do coke, alright they do like Pepsi Max. And iirc you also have kids, so would they?

But there is a fair proportion of young people at the games, easily the same percentage that has seasoncards.
My beef is with the people at the games who don’t have either the points, or even members of the club.

I see we have someone posting today without a membership who will be at the game tomorrow.

I do have kids in that age group and they don’t do coke. I will rephrase as there are a lot of fans at away games who are obviously doing drugs and they appear to be a younger element, not all but a lot. And yes I agree there are a fair proportion there. It isn’t right that season card holders are being overlooked for people with no affiliation, no points, no season card etc.

And tomorrow is another I failed to get a ticket for, which I wouldn’t have a problem with if I didn’t know there will be tourists and people with far less points there.

And that is the problem that nobody wants to address. Why change a system that suits those who have the power to change it.

That’s quite interesting about this season being a season where there’s been more chance to catch up. Hopefully a lot of the corporates have had their little taste, decided it’s not for them roughing it up at an away game with the plebs.

I’ve read a few times that the tunnel club thing hasn’t sold as well as hoped too.

Me and the wife will go platinum again, join the cup schemes again and attend as many as we qualify for next season and the season after but if we’re not becoming anywhere near eligible for a sniff of a more popular game after another few seasons I think we might cut our losses as far as platinum and cup schemes are concerned.

I have no problem missing out to blues who have been to more games, had a season ticket longer and built their points up over years of dedication. I object to missing out to half and half scarfers and tourists. It’s a piss take .

Wait til you find out who WW gave his ticket too then

The corporate got allocated 450 for Brighton - 1100 applied and you had just over a 1/3 chance of getting a ticket.

40% chance that

Seasoncard holders on loyalty only - 6% chance

Club employees - 33% if you include players in the total headcount

If you can't see regular seasoncard holders are being shat on here, you're being deliberately ignorant

And there’s the rub mate.
They don’t like the ruffians who go to games, sing songs, drink and swear.

Best thing the club can do to help their richer clients is to remove the oiks.
First off, lower their allocation.
Secondly let them argue amongst themselves ie Supporters Club and seasoncard holders, whilst the corporates continue.
Thirdly ID us and herd us so they know who they have and can get rid if they do something wrong.

Looking at the number of young uns at high point games when they can't possibly have enough points, and they can't have all come from supporters clubs so they must be getting them from people that aren't going to aways but want to keep there points high

Spot on

Why would they want to keep their points high, but don’t go to the high point games?

Similar pro rata my lad is 15 and has just over 18k I could see this coming years ago when the platinum came in you had to be in it to win it and the same with the cup schemes which we were in when it was an additional 75points per season but cheaper than paying a booking fee of £2-50 when kids were £1 a cup match
He comes to every game with me apart from Europe away but couldn’t get him a spurs ticket
Still think tho that more tickets should be available to point holders

Exactly, it's the last part that I think most people are in agreement with

This game coming up against Brighton will also be a prime example of when where the SC secretaries are in overdrive making sure high points holders get their own leaving more to the branch.

It's this that causes the most angst. 20% to a group that already can apply for the 60% is unfair. It needs changing but with PB on our side, he won't raise the issue

I disagree there’s a dichotomy here. Why would you bother to keep your points high if you don’t go to the high point games?

I rewatched the derby on TV on Thursday and saw a couple of ladies I know. One hasn’t been to a game this season and the other has been to two. They have high points and so went to this one. They are in a branch.

Most Seasoncard holders who go to away games are in agreement.
Unless they have dual membership, in which case they will side with the faction that provides the highest chance of a ticket.

if the distortion of the allocation was discussed at City Matters why, given the fact that the club ignored opinion, is it still called City Matters as it’s obvious that it doesn’t matter

It wasn't discussed, why would it be when Parker is on the forum himself and the seasoncard rep is a member of the supporters club himself

Corporate and players/employees having 20% could just be a line they pull anyway, you're not telling me that if all 449 employees rocked up wanting a ticket they wouldn't get one..?

They'll have had their little taste and might not choose to rough it with the plebs, but they aren't daft, they'll still take the two tickets per game they're entitled to and sell them on covering the price of the box
