Exposing the hypocrisy of journalists

Yep.

Doesn’t explain why Rabin is getting threatening messages about releasing the footage.

He’s clearly trying to take advantage of the situation in order to monitise it for his channel.

He’s partly trying to make himself out to be a victim when Rabin hasn’t once named him and truth is, he’s put Rabin at risk by recording.

He knows full well some of the details can’t be backed up without releasing the footage.
Nor any reason why he would want tweets deleted?

Only one thing for it now. Need to call in AC12

In other news, Man City Fan TV have announced their new webcam operative...

I haven't followed all this fallout mularky but I don't understand why any blue would want to disrupt and/or video this guy.

Unless you are trying to piggyback, I see no other logic to it but I'm too lazy to watch that video.

Think I'll stick with the day job sleuthing is not for me

;-)
Ultimately I suppose the important thing is that Rabin made heaps of really powerful points against the unfounded one-sided speculative spite that some twitterati were coming out with.
He did a great job of challenging that, and as others have suggested, he can maybe still make his views heard via 3rd parties in future if he wishes.

Just finished watching the video now, some questions for Andy:

1. Why didn't you tell him you were recording from the start when you already knew he had big concerns about his privacy because of previous correspondence/tweets?

2. Why was there such a need to film the video if the conservation was supposed to be an informal chat? Couldn't you have just told Ray the gist of the conversation?

3. Was the man you were interviewing wearing sunglasses?

Well both sides have had their say ao I suppose it's up to people to decide.

Honestly I have enjoyed rabins tweets and don't really follow man city fans tv but have seen some.stuff, it was an nice little side mystery for a sunday afternoon, but now all is revealed that needs to be, should be put to bed.

About sums it up mate.

No i don't thik he would but he might know who it was,i've a horrid feeling about the way this is going,we are all supposed to be on the same side ffs

And this is a key point - some twisted individual saw a route to making some fame out of all of this. It’s a shame that society has come to this and it’s mainly the online world driving it.

Gone are the days where people were happy supporting the same clubs and feeling the fellowship of the tribe - now some even want to be a name in the crowd of supporters and will do anything to get there, including sacrificing other fellow supporters.

The reporting (led by a striving for advertising revenue) led to stage one - vitriolic rants to get page views.

Stage two - one upmanship to gather followers and fame.

Stage three - in-fighting in the supporter base, a once tight group battling with each other for no reason.

The astonishing part of all of this is that it’s the last thing our respectable, honour based ownership would want to see and be involved in.

Until someone stand up, and starts acting like we all did 29 years ago - this will only get worse. Shame really

Why would Rabin say he was being threatened,he seems a very sensible bloke, andy is not convincing to me,poor me
On the other hand if what he's saying is true he has a right to feel aggrieved. We'll never know exactly how it happened but at least Rabin knows they won't show the video.

It should be mentioned that the City Fan TV guy has a very shady track record of being a total dick with other City online personalities.

Bottom line is that even now he’s trying to put shade over Rabin and you have to wonder why.

Got to say I’m conflicted after watching it. Andy also seemed pretty genuine and fronted up. According to him, Rabin didn’t have an issue and didn’t ask for it to be deleted.

Andy’s reasoning for recording it (to send to Ray) also seems reasonable but I also understand Rabin’s fears.

Seems like crossed wires and we can suspend the BM witch-hunt for now.

I feel more or less the same. Personally, I wouldn't have recorded it and would have taken notes instead, then sending a written summary to Rabin with a request that he tell me if anything was in correct, revising my account if necessary before forwarding it to Ray. But maybe I'm old school: back in the very distant past as a trainee and junior solicitor, I had to take notes at meetings and produce the minutes, so perhaps my skills in this respect are more developed than most. A recording might well be the best way to operate if you have to let someone else know what happened in a discussion and aren't confident about your note-taking skills. It seems possible both that Rabin was uncomfortable with that and that this fact wasn't communicated with sufficient clarity for Andy to pick up on it.

I don't think it would do Andy any harm now to make clear that he's deleted the video and has asked Ray to do the same. That, I think, should enable a line to be drawn under the episode.

I’ve not watched the video but is it possible that these “crossed wires” are mainly down to Rabin being hounded by journos, etc, into revealing his identity, in particular that utter fucking weirdo McGeehan, and that in turn has led to him being worried about getting outed to the extent that this little episode has understandably got to him more than it perhaps would’ve done if all those ****s hadn’t been trolling him in the first place?

Exactly. Also maybe Ray thought it was dodgy as well and that's why he quit.

More than likely mate.
