The Conservative Party

I remember you telling me we would leave the EU in March 2019.

I guarantee you we will still be in the EU in March 2020.

I did but agent May and Hammond are about to exit the scene.

We need to leave. If the country in 5/10/15 years time votes to rejoin then so be it, thats democracy.

Ignoring the vote, refusing to leave is never going to work politically for anyone and the electorate are never going to allow it to happen.

Stewart could well be Boris' patsy.

He's splitting the vote of any potential opponent that could defeat him.

He has no credible plan other than to try and do what May did and that is sell the country down the river and keep us in the EU.

That is one more plan than I have heard any of the others come up with. He voted for the WA x3, Johnson x1. If everyone would have voted for it we would be out and seen as though all this technology apparently exists I'm not overly sure what the issue with the Backstop is

The issue with the backstop is it will never allow us to leave, except with the permission of Dublin and Brussels.

No thanks.

And the only way round the backstop is a permanent customs union or NI leaving the UK.

Take your pick.

Or we tell the EU neither is going to happen.

I think we just have to be fair in booting their patsy out of office.

It will, as soon as this technology which people say can work does actually work. I am sure there would be a mutual panel to adjudicate - what is the problem?

Regardless of what the SNP and PC want, the people would have to vote out for it to happen. When we were in the EU and promised Scotland the best way to stay in the EU was staying part of the union, they rejected independence. Not a chance they will now. Wales possibly less so, but once they're in an even worse state than they are now as part of an independent UK, be interesting to see how the mood shifts.
I know that this is the 'perceived wisdom' - and indeed might well be true, but I am not so sure.

Just think about all the arguments that Remainers have been pushing on these threads about the importance of trading with your closest markets - value of exports/imports etc.

So, just imagine that we were ever actually allowed to Leave the EU, this will have meant that Scotland, Wales and N.I. will have also left the EU

Let's say one or all of these undertake Indyrefs in - say 2024 - the vote will follow campaigns that will rehearse these same arguments - and they will be just as valid.

I do not think that it is a given that any of them will leave at all - but anyway - it is what it is - the people of those states should decide for themselves - it is democracy.

If they choose to leave the union and apply to the EU for membership fair play. It will be interesting to see Scotland and Wales planning for the management of their borders with a non-EU nation - really interesting.

BTW - English people also having a voice about their future should not always be portrayed as something 'dirty' - what is this stigma people try and apply??

We will not leave. Nothing I have seen to date suggests brexiteers have the competence to deliver on anything.

Of course they haven't. I've never been impressed with one, in politics, on the news, in real life or on this forum. As you get older you learn to identify ability, gravitas, leadership and most of all sense. I have seen none of that on that side of the debate whatsoever. Every single person who's intellect I respect wants to Remain.
