Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

We already have other sports organisations using our facilities. Do you really think they place the welfare of their sports stars, above where this world class facility is situated?

I'm just finding it hard to understand why you think this facility is beyond Manchester City's capabilities? The facility is already up & running & used by City & others for rehab & other medical purposes, so where does feasibility come into it where keeping your prized assets fit & in good health is concerned?
There is a huge clinical difference in the current services offered, which I’m sure are top notch, and functional operating theatres on many levels.
They can’t say we can do an ACL next Wednesday open the theatre. It really doesn’t work like that particularly with infection risk with orthopaedics. They can introduce numbers with Hope hospital but orthopaedic waiting list cases opens up a whole can of worms which is why I suspect no progress looks to have been made with hope hospital. Doing hopes little old ladies with fractured hips simply will not work.
Most private hospitals now do more NHS work than private due to the drop in demand. This may change if 18 week wait goes, but if not it will be why hope we’re interested if that was the case. Offload nhs cases, all trusts in England are at it.
The surgeons equally are not going to split were they operate for an occasional ACL. That’s not were they make there money.
How do you staff a surgical unit rarely used?
Where do you get junior doctors from?
Who do you offer surgical training to? Not train on a player so who?
I could go on.
I’m not being critical of the club at all but talking aspirationally at the start of the journey is easy to get carried away, I’m sure we’ve all done it. Reality how ever is something different.
Diagnostics, Rehab and health sciences is where we will excel.
I bet this cugat fella works out of a private hospital, and if he does there’s a reason for that.

I'm struggling to think of a tourist attraction that will be successful. East Manchester is growing, so it needs to be something that will be used regularly used by the community. Start with the arena and build it from there. Manchester City needs to be its focal point, but maybe there will be a chance to attract more sports to the campus i.e. Ice Hockey, Basketball, Netball, Hockey to name but a few?
Sportcity is a tourist attraction but I get your point. What is required is something that brings people every day of the week, what that is I’ve no idea.

We are near enough all set to go. No one mentioned old ladies hip replacements, our focus is on specialist sports injuries & the rehabilitation of sports stars. Ut's a totally different market. I'm pretty sure our clinicians are aware what is needed to scrub our theatres clean to the standards required.

I fail to see how these industry standard practices, can be seen as barriers to us achieving our aims & objectives at CFA. We're the global phenomenon Manchester City Football Club, not Wythenshawe Amateurs.

Look last response, I just questioned the feasibility as an outsider. You are obviously an insider and know the current state of affairs which could have settled this much earlier. As I said I was sceptical, still am but in no way dismissive of you or the club I’ve supported for 40+years. Let’s see, I’ll keep an eye on CQC website from time to time for an update.
Hopefully it happens, I’ll know where to bring my sporting lads if ever they require those operating services. Not long now from your last message.

Ours is not to reason why. We have world class professionals at the helm of our club, who have a long term plan. A world class medical facility being just a small part of that plan.

What I've revealed isn't a big secret. It was made public 10 years ago, because it had to be open to public consultation as publicly owned land was required.

I just happened to be at the first public conference in a professional capacity. If I could build a world class medical facility in my back garden, I'd love it. I'm not a sickly type, so I'd be more than happy to open it up to the public on a specialist basis to make best use of it.

City are hoping it will be used by the UK's sporting community, just like Lilleshall has been on behalf of Sport England.

UCFB which is based at the Etihad Campus is branching out into Piccadilly Place in the city centre.

Work begins on University Campus of Football Business ‘study hub’ in Manchester city centre

The UCFB, which also has a campus at Wembley Stadium, opened its campus at Etihad Stadium in 2016, which has more than 1,000 students now studying at its Manchester facility

The higher education institution, which offers football-focussed undergraduate and postgraduate education, revealed it had signed a long-term lease on ground floor office space at Piccadilly Place.

Work has already begun on the new hub, which is set to feature a large study space, IT facilities and library, a high-tech sports lab and media broadcast studios when completed ahead of the 2019-20 academic year.

Belle vie the way I would go, mostly under cover of course, and no caged gorillas!!!

I’ve thought for a while a modern Belle Vie is the answer. Nice gardens, bars, restaurants and a few attractions- many of them virtual like the modern rides at Universal Studios. Might be good if it was Sport related / themed. The arena would also work with that. Need something that attracts people 24/7 and isn’t retail related.

A modern version of Belle View gets my vote... preferably indoor! Never ceases to amaze me though of the never ending development they have at Wembley. Looks like they're creating a new city. Fckin skyscrapers and cranes all over the place. Whoever is behind that needs to be head hunted by City.
