The NHS has been unfit for purpose for decades now, and the reason is to be seen on this thread, it's a political football and a noose around any governments neck.

Not true, my mum god bless her soul was incredibly well looked after by the NHS during the late 90s and early 2000s , her waiting times for operations were short and she received top care.

You really don’t see the reality of austerity, do you? And who do you believe should be sacked?
Of course I do. I am not on Mars.

If there's someone responsible for triaging incoming calls to a health centre who is not taking chest pains seriously then they need shall we say "some urgent training" at best.

The taxes of the 8 million new people? or are they all on benefits? Don't talk shit the NHS is being ran into the ground on purpose to deny it is just wilful ignorance.
"Tax and spend, tax and spend!".

People aren't earning enough to cover the rise in taxes for those additional 8m people, not enough to cover the additional costs of the care required. How do we get around the proposed nationalisation of public services also taking tax money away from the underfunded NHS? Where is all this extra money meant to be coming from, because the taxpayers don't have it.

Of course it's true, I am happy you had your mum looked after but that's just anecdotal evidence not reflective of every case. People look through the tinted spectacles of their rosette of choice when it comes to the NHS.

You call it a tax I call it investing in my society and its people. I ain't no economist and neither are you so stop chatting maccer like you know the score.

You are telling me Great Britain cannot provide a well run NHS but can afford to spunk millions on a railway line or trident.

I don't have a rosette, ain't a die hard labour fan or a tory. I'd say me and my family have a hell of a lot of experience with the NHS in and around Manchester. It has got alot worse.

Wait till Boomers like you are stuck in badly run care homes will be funny as fuck.

We should stop treating people for free and streamline the NHS not with vanity projects but with real initiatives not run on party lines of whoever is in. There are loads of things we could do that aren't being done because the NHS is and always has been a political football.

People don't have the money to meet monthly living costs and your solution is to just "tax the people more".

I'm not chatting like "I know the score", i'm just like you, a citizen with an opinion and in my opinion, taxing the public MORE to pay for a service which already receives the highest percentage of taxpayers money, is no longer a viable option.

You are aware that there are funds set aside for things like HS2 and Trident? You're talking thousands of jobs, contracts being torn up, people out of work. And i'm coming from the opinion that HS2 is an abysmal waste of funds. The reality is those projects already have millions invested, in people.

"Tax the 8m more people to fund the rise in population" is not a viable option, IMHO.

So what is then, if the NHS is failing from underfunding, what replaces it and who pays for it ?

Find it, if NHS funding isn't top of the piority list , it should be.
From where?

It's all very well and good to say "find it", but that usually means taking from other projects. Projects where people have been invested in. You're robbing Peter to pay Paul, with that mindset.

They already are stuck in badly run care homes and have been for years, and you don't have more experience, your idle boast is just that, an idle boast. If you're the type of person who thinks old people stuck in badly run care homes are "Funny" it says a lot more about you than anyone else.

So what is then, if the NHS is failing from underfunding, what replaces it and who pays for it ?
That's what a lot of us are asking Labour and the Conservatives and we're getting no viable answers.

The only realistic way in that scenario is to allow outside investment, which is unpopular amongst socialists, and would need to be assured to any investors that the NHS remains free to the point of use. Something which outside investors would not be happy about and would want some "ownership" of the service, which is again an unpopular notion.

So we're back to just raising taxes, get the impoverished public to pay even more for a badly run, poorly managed and financially wasteful service.

agreed. Population increase is a major problem.
All population increase is inevitable; our issue seems to be our population is growing faster than our infrastructure can keep up, and it's putting a major strain on local and now national services.

Boris Johnson meets the people: Glastonbury: Visit cancelled because of protesters Follows: Stainforth: ‘I don’t want to meet you.' Leeds: ‘Leave my town’ Doncaster: ‘You’ve a cheek. People have died because of austerity’ Rotherham: ‘Get back to London' -Not going well

After just reading this tweet is anybody aware of protests at Jeremy Corbyn walkabouts that are not been picked up by the media? I am just asking for a friend that's all?

Not much of a caring attitude if you think it'll be "funny as fuck" that people find themselves in a badly run care home.

You purport to care about people, but in truth it's only if they toe the same line as you. I hope you didn't take the Hippocratic Oath.

Maybe those folks with an extra BMW on the driveway could cough up a bit more.
