When I got on site this morning it was as if nothing had been said previously. 20 blokes sat in a canteen, 3 toilets between everyone just a breeding ground for germs. We had a safety meeting and were told to keep 2m apart at all times and that was it. Crack on lads.

I thought fuck it and have gone on self isolation for 14 days and just take the hit of being payed £94 a week. Hopefully the government see sense and shut these down so people can get the 80% wages.

Well played. It's ridiculous that construction is still running and the government's weasel words on this have been pathetic. They should be demanding that companies shut down, not advising. Unless you're building a fucking hospital, it's not a key service.

You should be OK. That's what the scheme is designed for: temporary lay-offs without loss of job.

Unless you mean a few days lay-off here and there. That isn't in the spirit of the scheme and I think your employer would risk getting bombed out on reimbursement.
 
Advice needed

My nephew has a job where he delivers water for water fountains etc, most of his jobs are to hospitals.
His partner and 6 year old Son have severe asthma and he'd obviously concerned as his company are not shutting down and he's worried about picking up the virus in a hospital & then giving it to his partner & children.
Should he self isolate, he knows he'd get SSP but would he get help with his rent ?
Sorry for asking on here but he tried phoning 111 but didn't get anywhere
 
I am self employed, have a cleaning company cleaning carpets and also patio’s etc.
Took the decision to not do any inside jobs last week.
In theory i could crack on with my outside work but took the decision last night to close up shop full stop.

Such a big decision. Scary. Financially daunting. But, i think, morally correct.

Had a few bits to do today and seeing how people are carrying on regardless made me think why im bothering

But this is what im doing and hopefully doing my bit

Half of "London" fucks off to the country at the weekend, so it should have been announced Friday not yesterday, hence why Cornwall Wales Lakes and Yorkshire filled up on Saturday and Sunday, last weekend so that damage has already been done sadly.

He said : 'Although it won't replace an ICU ventilator, the majority of patients won't need intensive care if they are treated with this ventilator first, releasing ICU ventilators for more serious Covid-19 cases and other general medical cases.'

'The machine has other benefits in that it will clean the room of viral particles and only supply purified air to the patient. The patient can self-care as specialist nurses are not required releasing them for other duties.'​

There was one on Sky News earlier developed by Oxford University and it's being tested now too. Apparently Sony are on board to manufacture it.

If your company has or would have laid you off they can claim 80% of your wages. This can only be claimed if you are truly off work. No e mails or telephone calls etc, the trouble with this is the government have not committed to when or how they pay this back to the firm so it could be financial suicide for small firms as it could take several months, you do not have to have the virus or symptoms to be laid off.

Nosebleed might be as a result of High Blood Pressure which can be a symptom of any viral illness.

This one really interests me because it's not a full on ICU ventilator, but apparently putting people on it before they would need a proper ventilator means some can recover without ever needing to get to ICU.

100 a day is amazing numbers too, and the Welsh Government already approved it.

We just need to get through the next month. We're going to be so much better equipped to fight it by then.

That’s one enjoyable theme I’ve read numerous times over the last few days, that also gives me faith we can beat this in our country. We have an incredible number of businesses rising to the challenge of sorting the ventilator problem.

I’ve read articles about GTech, Dyson etc etc.

Awesome work by all of these companies.
