Tomorrow’s 5k will take me to my 200k since lockdown.
Fantastic effort

I'm thinking you're on about the freetrain vests? I've got one myself and they are handy for about £25-30.

A link to them mate. Never use them for fluid, so I just got one as least bulky as possible to carry my phone and a few gels. Mine is all black.
Missed it. Am I too late to call runners names? I've noticed since covid got going a lot more fatties huffing and puffing around. Is it because they are desperately trying to shift timber to be more healthy in case the virus gets them, or is it just another excuse to leave the house to stuff their fat little faces with sweets from the garage? The thread is now open again. As I requested earlier, please try to keep your disagreements to pms, or simply put anyone you disagree with on "ignore". The report we received is being looked into.
Another 7am run this morning, it's a beautiful time of the day to run folks. I run on the road for 90% of my run as there are no cars. In the hour I pass about 3 other runners on the 10k route and about 10 dog walkers. Recommend it anyone that's put off by running at peak times.
Inspired by a few others I ran 21k this morning, which I have just realised is roughly 50 metres short of a half marathon which is a bit annoying.
Ran on a mixture of roads and trails and finished in 1:42:18. Felt good at the end, bar the feet which were aching and I started to feel every step.
Food, bath and liquid were very welcome at the end.
Move over - it's my turn to lose the plot this morning........Missed it. Am I too late to call runners names? I've noticed since covid got going a lot more fatties huffing and puffing around. Very nice sentiments and something that you probably wouldn't have stumbled across without lock down......In lockdown one great thing is me and my son who is 12 have started jogging pretty much everyday. He is your typical modern day 12 year old , a bit unfit due to toomany takeaways and playing xbox too much
we run pretty much every day now and we are doing 3.5k now each day. He even doesn’t listen to music he actually talks to me on the way round !!!!
No idea where you live mate, but if you’ve never done parkrun, and obviously you can’t do the official one at the moment, but you can find the runs online and do whichever one is your local one. Good way of pushing yourself towards 5k.In lockdown one great thing is me and my son who is 12 have started jogging pretty much everyday. There's obviously something wrong with the kid.In lockdown one great thing is me and my son who is 12 have started jogging pretty much everyday. He is your typical modern day 12 year old , a bit unfit due to toomany takeaways and playing xbox too much

I was first to do parkrun in our household, I started about 5 years ago and am just shy of 200 now. Then I got my son to start, he will have been 13 back then and he’s up to about 130 as he’s at Uni now so isn’t as regular. Then last year managed to get my daughter to start, she’s 16 and is up to about 30 now, then lo and behold managed to get the missus to start just before Xmas last year. So we have had a few where all 4 of us have been there, and now in lockdown we probably get about 2 or 3 a week in Heaton Park where all 4 of us go for the run. Just gives you a bit of a push when you are following a specific route and certainly timing them for me helps to push me along.that was the plan with him originally as I understood you can do 2 or 5 so I was challenging him but like all kids of that age getting him to do it with the distraction of the internet and other stuff he has on has been hard .
lockdown has given us the chance to actually do it so I am going to suggest the 5k one when things get back to normal .
he is 13 soon and I am hoping it is something he can continue to do post lockdown.
I love going for a run with him and he seems to really enjoy it too. Quite proud of him actually.
Took the stabilisers off yet?I have decided my running days are over. I am a cyclist these days.
Probably a bit of both tbh.Missed it. Am I too late to call runners names? I've noticed since covid got going a lot more fatties huffing and puffing around. If he's running and talking simultaneously, then he's doing the right thing. Something I learned from this thread. In lockdown one great thing is me and my son who is 12 have started jogging pretty much everyday. I don't think we have all your particulars, so it's hard to offer advice.I’ve been really into the running since last September and tend to stick to 5k which I can do in about 24:20 at my PB, I’m at a stage where I want to build to 10k and then on from there.
Slowed my 5k right down to 29mins today and felt I could carry on easily, is this the best way to go about it?
I’m also hammering the HIIT sessions to vary my cardio but strangely I don’t feel any fitter running since doing it, which I did expect to for some reason. I’m definitely fitter in relation to the HIIT as I’m doing the advanced sessions after starting on basic.
I guess my end game is to continue to trim up, I want to get to around 13% body fat & am about 15% currently, I read on here the best way was to do this was fasted runs at a pace where you can still talk, is this correct?
Thanks mate, I’m just going to go for it and see how I get on.I don't think we have all your particulars, so it's hard to offer advice.
From my own experience, I was running 5ks, then I entered the Cheshire 10k. I didn't really do any extra training, just went along and ran the 10k in 57 minutes. It wasn't that much harder than the 5k, and I was relatively fresh after it. This was around a year ago, after I'd been running for about 4 months. I was 57 at the time, weighing 13.5 stones.
