Well it’s now 2 weeks since I started running outdoors and the difference between that and running on a treadmill is astonishing. I can’t decide whether it’s easier or harder - on the one hand I think there’s more chance of picking up injuries compared to the treadmill, and I certainly ache more after an outdoors run, but on the other I’ve found it harder to do a stint on the treadmill these days. The time seems to drag by so much more than previous, so I think it’s safe to say I’m now fully converted to outdoors running. I’m still a complete novice, but I’ve managed a few 5k runs now and doing them in just over 32 minutes, so not exactly Haile Gebrselassie pace.
As for weather conditions, I much prefer it cool and rainy. Did a run in the pissing rain yesterday and loved it.
