CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

Would have thought Samuel would have a piece to copy by now.... he is very quiet for something as big as this

Might be away for a week as the league finished, and before the FA Cup final and Europe. I have a feeling most weekday Samuel pieces are Tues and Thurs (this could be wrong!) so 10 pm tonight maybe.

Why did we do it and what have we gained by doing it?

All I can see is a very substantial fine, censure by CAS for not co-operating and an open goal for the media to infer we were hiding evidence.
What we gained is, we got it away from the AC and what was obviously a kangaroo court in UEFA.
We got an early decision in CAS thus avoiding being banned from the CL, which we would have been.

And we would have been out of Europe regardless of any appeal process. You can bet your life on that. Just look at the petition to CAS from the 9 PL teams.
Pressure would have been increased on
UEFA and there is no way we would get fair play with them.
The damage would have been dragged out and maximised through leaking to the media. The media would oblige of course making as much as they could for as long as they could.

I think our management/owners played this right.

They knew what they we’re dealing with, and this was the quickest way to minimise the already considerable reputational damage.

For all the hue and cry from two bob bloggers and low rent minimum wage hacks City won’t give a fuck, Pep won’t give a fuck, the players certainly won’t give a fuck. Us fans of course may get the hump being trolled by cuunts, we also know we have to be very careful not to get banned from whatever fans forum, I think I must be on my fiftieth account at the Guardian! But in the big scheme it’s tomorrow arse wipe. The fact KDB won the POTS on the BBC shows they haven’t completely poisoned everyone against City, fifteen years ago it was Chelsea getting twatted by the MSM, in a few years it may be Newcastle. Things move on, we become the old guard.

It's been 12 years since the takeover.

Another thing! When batting away dickheads there is little or no point explaining the CAS ruling, no point in arguing at all. Instead say I know you won’t listen to me so read this from xxx. I’ve done it with dippers, posted links to the scouser Echo that detailed in black and white their £89m breach of FFP for the first reporting period 2011-2014. when we get the empty seats shit, I post pictures of empty stands in Trafford, the Liverpool Echo asking how LFC can fill the 2000 empty seats at every home game etc.

You really believe there are 2,000 empty seats at every home game?

He's definitely had the call, total change of tack in the last hour. Wouldn't surprise me if the BBC headline is changed or removed soon
' "If I don't see a redaction on Twitter in the next 5 minutes, I think we both know what's going to happen, Dan." The voice hung up.
Roan immediately went back to his phone, his crooked hands shaking too much to be able to navigate his laptop... .

Wednesday turned out to be a great day for Dan. After a troubled night of reflecting how close he had come to the edge, he woke realising that he was still here, and about to begin the first day of the rest of his life.
A new life. A happy life where the burdensome lies of the past, while conditionally consigned to history, had also been reborn as an ever present motivation for him to do good in the world and finally make something of his previously miserable existence.'

I realise in hindsight that City are the Appellant, and UEFA are the Respondent. It should have been UEFA nomianating.

Neither nominate, their arbitrators do. What that paragraph is saying is that the president is not decided upon until both parties have said who their own arbitrators are.

We suggested a potential president when we informed CAS who our arbitrator was, Uefa agreed with it when they informed who their arbitrator was. The president of the division would then get the agreement of the two arbitrators and then the president of the panel is appointed.

That’s all standard practice. If the arbitrators hadn’t agreed to the president proposed then the president of the division would choose it instead.

I've got the official pennant from the game somewhere.

It was given to me by Peter Swales when they were clearing out some of the old boardroom at Maine Road many years ago.

They also chucked out a damaged engraved carriage clock given to us by Chelsea for the 1971 Cup Winners Cup semi-final.

I'll have to ask my folks what happened to that. I kept it as a kid just gathering dust.

I was lucky enough to eat in the boardroom on two occasions courtesy of a certain Mr Brough.

I recall one being the 1998 Chesterfield game, I was shown to my seat in the Executive box, sat next to me, taking up two seats was the infamous Andy Morrison.

Lee Badbuy scored in a 1-1 draw, in Division 2.

We've come a long way since.
