Every Kyle thread is bizarre. Ten pages of comments like this and ten pages calling him a liability and brain fart material! He definitely has his ups and downs

There are no right backs at Walker's level imo.

Some are pretty good at defending, some are good going forward ( we have one of the best, in Cancelo) but can't defend.

Walker has some brainfarts but not that many. When he has a shitter he really has one. Over a season though, he's not a problem at all, he's a huge asset.

The same issue keeps cropping up fir walker, when he has to defend at the dar post he falls asleep.

As happened yesterday, a fross from the opposite side walker just watched the ball coming towards him, this allowed the leeds plater to run in un chalkenged for the header

It is not good enough..he cannot stand there as a defender waiting for the ball to arrive, you have to drive forward to meet the ball and clear it

Time after time the same mistakes.

He should have been a sprinter. The only time he looks remotely interested and alive is when using his pace. All of this best work comes when he can stick his chest out and show everyone how fast he is. He can’t show off when standing stationary at the far post, so he falls asleep.

He’s not alone in this way of playing, look at AWB at United, he absolutely loves a 1-on-1 so he can show off his tackling ability. He knows the fans and media will lap it up. It’s basically the one string he has to his bow, like Walker has his pace. They both have one major attribute and they both play on it as much as they can.

Some of those watching, do lap it up, others can see right through it.

He sticks his chest out on throw-ins too, don’t forget that one!

Given he is one of the few that can actually run, is pace is pretty crutial. He's not the best in the world but he's low down on the list of problems as far as I am concerned
True that, I just think when we're put under pressure by a side on attack his defensive vulnerabilities show up a lot, ultimately another gap in the backline leaving us weaker. He doesn't quite get much forward either, or well, if he does, it rarely results in anything. I would like Cancelo to get a run of games in the position

He’s been really poor so far this season.

One on one he’ll always be fine - but he’s getting caught wrong side of runners and switching off when the ball comes in from the opposite flank. It’s a trait that he’s always possessed with his lapses in concentration.

I do however think that if we dropped the liability at left back and went with Ake we’d have a much more settled back four.

Alternatively Walker comes out for Cancelo and we give that a try too.

Dias / Cancelo could well form a decent pair on the right side of defence.

Cancelo would be much better going forward.

As a defender, Zinchenko is better.

If we were to lose Walker tomorrow, we would have the same problem at right back as at left back, for years.

I can't believe people are singling him out as a problem, amongst the absolute shitshow of a team unit we have seen over the past year. Let's dump Walker & make it much worse, just as we've finally got a cb.

We would not improve on Walker, in our system, with any player from any other team. Only in attack & even then, most teams with sucessful attacking fullbacks 'do' headers.

His performance v Real Madrid was incredible.

Walker is the least of our problems but him freezing and allowing the Leeds free header was fucking ridiculous at this level.
Still, he’s been one of our best performers for months.

We don’t need to look to another team, we can improve on Walker with a fit Cancelo, if he is given a proper run in the side.

Walkers performance against Real Madrid was incredible and I said as much on here at the time. If he performed like that most weeks, I would be labelling him as world class, just like you. That performance was an anomaly though. You can’t throw in a 10/10 full back performance against one of the best teams in the world and then surround it with 6/10s the majority of other weeks against what is most of the time, much weaker opposition. Walker can’t become another Gundogan, where he lives off a single performance for the next 3 years.

Apart from falling asleep at a header, Walker was an asset v Leeds not a minus.

He is already starting to build a relationship with Dias.

Cancelo can't defend at all & has already contributed to losing us games. He is worse, defensively, than Mendy. Brilliant going forward

If he plays, someone has to cover for his inevitable fuckups.

The good thing is that Dias is used to bailing him out, when he does something ridiculous, for Portugal.

But to give Dias that extra problem would be a really big ask at this stage.

I think Cancelo could play in front of Walker, in games such as yesterday, as a winger

I'd like to see Cancelo give a sustained run ahead of Walker,he has more strings to his bow,he is far more intelligent with and without the ball, and his defending is plenty good enough.

Yet again he was caught ball watching and nearly gave away a goal for Leeds by forgetting to cover the far post run from Alioski. Either he is a terrible learner, as the same thing happened with Aubameyang getting the better of him in the SF of the FA cup, or no one has pointed it out to him. I reckon it is the former.

Against a more ruthless opponent we would have conceded 2 goals purely down to him. Last week ball watching -yesterday ball watching. Losing the ball on one of his headless chicken charges upfield are a problem. He should be on the doors somewhere or a personal trainer,

That's grossly unfair.

I can't get my head round people singling out a player who is one of our biggest non worries over a season, because of a couple of mistakes out of a team which made 150.

Liverpool's fulkbacks will make more fuckups than Walker in the next month & they will likely get away with it, just as he did. Nobody will be advocating getting rid of them.

I think you are blinkered where Walker is concerned.I was one of his biggest supporters 12 months back, but his game has definitely deteriorated. He's often found out of position and his head is in the clouds,he is incredibly one footed, and he also needs to keep his hands off players as they don't need an invite to claim fouls these days.

He's still a great player and asset,he's just not the rock steady/Mr dependable you describe anymore.

I'm not describing him as rock steady.

Just better than any other player we would buy or play there.

Walker's biggest problem has been the same as Laporte's imo, not having a r cb for a year. Put Van Dijk & Twat Alexander Arnold next to Garcia for two months with Mendy left back & see how they look.

If both play with Dias for a while, both will get back to normal imo.
