By way of comparison, on April 12th, there were 18970 and 4014 on ventilators. There are now 3093 in UK hospitals with Covid. And 391 with Covid on ventilators.

Whilst it's very good advice to do that, it's not the case people wouldn't pass it on, many people pick it up from contaminated surfaces, so you could stay 6 feet apart and have every window open, but minute particles will still settle on things you touch, such as tables, rails, cushions, taps, toilet seats, etc etc, and there are only so many times you can sensibly sanitise your hands, without touching around your nose or mouth. If everyone who met indoors, sat 6 feet apart and had 2 windows open, they wouldn’t pass it on.
I don’t agree with pubs / restaurants shutting at 10pm. However, Students do part time jobs in pubs, supermarkets, restaurants etc and lots go home to their parents / families. The students who aren’t locked down in halls of residents have plenty of opportunities to spread the virus. Care homes workers can also spread the virus. They are part of the general population.*If* the vast number of cases are in care homes and universities then that surely puts the increase into context i.e not in the community but in buildings were very few(none) are leaving so have a limited opportunity to pass it on - what I'm getting at is if say increases are in care homes, why are resturants shutting ealry?
An independent resturant can get a 10k fine and a threat of closure if they don't follow the strict rules but we csn cram on as many people as possible to the Metrolink on a Saturday night with no fines issued. Very inconsistent
ok thanks for the explanation. The maximum size of a worksheet in excel is 1,048,576 rows by 16,384 columns.
I believe their are 2 columns per specimen. So if you go over 8,192 specimens you can't export data beyond that number. An error is generated in a log file but I doubt it was read
Well seeing as the rates are at their highest since 2000 I’m going to go with Covid causing depression etc. Last night on the news in the car they said children’s suicide rates have also gone up. Kids depressed because their missing school and friends, that should cause concern in everyone that we’re not looking after the vulnerable amongst us. Bury your heads in the sand all you want if you think Covid deaths are more important but I’m sorry I don’t, there are plenty of other preventable deaths occurring but we’re focusing too much on the one thing.Sources for that please, people commit suicide for a whole host of reasons , they might have lost someone or any other reason
Oh seriously Karen!?Sources for that please, people commit suicide for a whole host of reasons , they might have lost someone or any other reason
Highly unlikely you’ll catch it from surfaces though as it mainly spreads through respiratory droplets in the air.Whilst it's very good advice to do that, it's not the case people wouldn't pass it on, many people pick it up from contaminated surfaces, so you could stay 6 feet apart and have every window open, but minute particles will still settle on things you touch, such as tables, rails, cushions, taps, toilet seats, etc etc, and there are only so many times you can sensibly sanitise your hands, without touching around your nose or mouth.
bang on the money, young people have been forgotten completely in this rush to fix everything Covid. Students get blamed but they have properly shafted loaded with debt the majority now being forced to pay for things that are not being provided. Futures ruined. My daughter is at Uni but her future career has been ruined by Covid with the government providing no support. No wonder so many of them ar disobeying the convoluted rules. My youngest is very woried about the future and her job proapects.Well seeing as the rates are at their highest since 2000 I’m going to go with Covid causing depression etc. Last night on the news in the car they said children’s suicide rates have also gone up. As it says too small a number to be significant , i think we have to be careful with suicide numbers , lockdown might be the last straw but if it wasnt that it could easily be something elseFollowing the letter signed by GPs that I posted the other day, I checked the report on child suicides and the researchers found that an additional 12 children had sadly taken their own lives for reasons linked to the lockdown. The source is the National Child Mortality Database
Apologies. Posted wrong linkThe data in the article refers to last year and actually says this years early data are at a 19 year low though it may be an artefact due to coroners courts being closed.
Oh no , hope she is okMy daughter at university in Liverpool now has it!
Thanks, but I can only read 5 lines, and I'm not subcribing to any print media website I'm afraid.Highly unlikely you’ll catch it from surfaces though as it mainly spreads through respiratory droplets in the air.
New research into the infectious potential of contaminated surfaces has forced a downgrading of early concerns that people might fall ill by touching a door knob or a light switch. “The surface issue has essentially gone away,” a leading American specialist in infectious diseases declared.

I take your point but the 12 cases were about half of the child suicides for the period, 12 out of 25 IIRC.As it says too small a number to be significant , i think we have to be careful with suicide numbers , lockdown might be the last straw but if it wasnt that it could easily be something else
Inchy's source was 2019 and lower than it was before
Did you read your own source ?Well seeing as the rates are at their highest since 2000 I’m going to go with Covid causing depression etc. Last night on the news in the car they said children’s suicide rates have also gone up. I’ve reposted what I’d intended to. The thing is, with mass unemployment and people losing homes because of this the suicides and mental health issues to follow will last a generation, kids, students also will be massively affected. As it says too small a number to be significant , i think we have to be careful with suicide numbers , lockdown might be the last straw but if it wasnt that it could easily be something else

Sorry you cant print figures like that on here! People will get upset and tell you you cant compare deaths as one is a pandemic and is therefore much more important and all you are doing is downplaying covid. In the world, so far this year, there have been 819000 suicides and 1,044,000 deaths from Covid, which is almost exactly the same as deaths from road traffic accidents.
The suicide figure is based on WHO stats but is going up more than is usual for this late in the year.
By way of contrast, so far this year: 8.5M have died from hunger, 6 million children under 5 have died, 1.2M have died from HIV/AIDS, 6.2M have died from cancer, 4M from smoking fags and 1.9M from drink and just under 10M from communicable diseases.

I think it highly likely that suicides are going up, everyone is having a pretty miserable time.I’ve reposted what I’d intended to. The thing is, with mass unemployment and people losing homes because of this the suicides and mental health issues to follow will last a generation, kids, students also will be massively affected.
Normally you’d be going crazy about this government’s actions and a rise in suicide yet now you won’t say a fucking thing.
They’re killing people by their actions, we all know it but for some reason some just don’t want to say it.
Also 1,900,000 caused by drinking.... maybe that’s why they’ve shut the pubs early to bring this number down.Sorry you cant print figures like that on here! People will get upset and tell you you cant compare deaths as one is a pandemic and is therefore much more important and all you are doing is downplaying covid.
