Pretty much covers it.

I rally do not understand why the reaction is often outrage on here if Sterling is questioned in terms of whether or not he is the best we can have. He is a good player but his inconsistency and his finishing and are someway short of him being a top world class player.

That does not mean we should be selling him nor does it mean we should not be looking to bring in better should the chance arise, even if it did mean moving Sterling on.

I imagine the outrage is comparing him to Traore, that's like wondering if Billy Sharp is an upgrade on Aguero.

Traore would be one of the best players in the world if he had even average intelligence and passing technique but he is legitimately league 2 level in both departments and hence will never ever be good enough for a top team.

Also says a lot that people think he’s a winger. If you follow him and listen to him, he likes to play as an eight.

It does say a lot, it says "I've watched him play".

People think he's a winger because that's where he plays. He might "like" to play as an 8, but he doesn't, the Villa set up has him starting wide left and then doing what he wants, because Barkley, Luiz and McGinn do all the defensive work the midfield need to do.

He did play a bit in midfield last season and was nowhere near as good, because while he will put himself about for a guy in a free role, he doesn't have the defensive positioning or ability of an 8.

If he were to come here, he would need to change his game considerably to work as an 8. Which is not impossible, KDB and Silva both did it, increased their defensive output 2 or 3x compared to when they played as 10's or wide in a 4231 in the same role Grealish has now.

But it's simply wrong to say he plays as an 8.

He really doesn’t like Sterling, does he! Haha! Poor lad not even worth a place in the team now.
I have nothing against Sterling, other than i believe he lacks presence, and, considering the way we have chosen to play,i think others can play a more effective role in our team. He'd be a great option from the bench in my starting 11.

With all due respect, if you'd rather play Grealish on the left than Sterling then I don't know what planet you're living on. And Bernardo has done nothing to deserve a place on the right ahead of Sterling for 12 months.

Not either or, Sterling and Bernardo would both be in my starting 11.

Even though Sterling lacks Presence-)

If we don’t move quick he will be at Utd or Liverpool. I have been saying we should sign him for some time. The perfect prem league player
Yes, I am a little late in this thinking, not for his talent but I thought he was bit of a cock but now I think well he will be our cock at least lol

He would improve Utd considerably and LIverpool also and yes, he would improve us right now as well.

Vila safe at Xmas get the money down, tell them we will scrap the Douglas buy back and here is 80m upfront.

Player signs the next day. :)

United surely don't have the budget for Sancho and Grealish. Chelsea don't need him, so that leaves us and Liverpool maybe...
