Just what I have been thinking. Totally out of their depth. Remind me of Ole... Problem is what's the alternative. Not Starmer imo. If I were the Tory grandees I'd be asking Ian Duncan Smith and Jeremy Hunt to step in then form a coalition of the best(I use that term loosely).
Can't say I like Hunt, but the only question for which the answer is Ian Duncan Smith is:
Is there a bigger idiot in the Tory party than Johnson.?

Putting forward IDS? Mate, that might be the most outrageous and obscene thing I’ve ever read on Bluemoon lol.

We're really in a real mess with this now aren't we?

Think back over the last year - Johnson shaking hands with Covid patients, going late into the lockdown, saying they put a shield around care homes when in fact they sent infected people back, the PPE scandal, ordering the wrong PPE, not bothering to test early on, the top team getting covid, the Cummings affair, having a national lockdown whilst people strolled through our airports, the GCSE cock up and u turn, putting their mate Harding in charge of testing which she is plainly not capable of doing, the A level cock up and u turn, setting up 'eat out to help out' then within weeks looking at shutting down bars and restaurants, the mixed-up-muddled up messaging, sending freshers to university and get infected and spread the infection around towns and cities, the mobile app cock ups, the testing cock ups and disasters, traffic lights to tiers. Everything they've touched has been utterly shambolic, lethal and pretty much wrong. It's hard to imagine how any lay person could do such a bad job.

Genuinely, I had some sympathy for Johnson and Hancock at the start of the pandemic. However, they are an absolute disgrace and have shown themselves to be so far out of their depth it's a national disgrace and embarrassment. And I've not mentioned Brexit.

They've had MONTHS to sort out track and trace and it's still not functioning correctly. Even if Hancock told me it was sorted, I'd have absolutely no confidence he was telling the truth. He doesn't know what it looks like and neither do his sidekicks Johnson and Harding. It's a disgrace.

Unless we get the health emergency under some kind of control, the economy is not going to recover. It's absolutely that simple. It's a crisis of confidence now.

If we have a 'national lockdown' then it absolutely has to be used around half term and it absolutely has to be used to get track and trace fixed. Without it, there's no chance of any semblance of normality or economic recovery. We're just going to head into Christmas then next year with the same problem. There seems to be no end in sight and we cannot hope and pray that a vaccine just pops up. We have to get testing, tracing, isolating working NOW.

We have an emergency in the coming weeks and the government have lost the spirit of the people. If we don't get a grip on testing we'll end up with the same problem again at Christmas.
Great post they've picked red or black numerous times and been wrong on every one.

It's certainly not easy but we'd at least have a fighting chance if they were proactive rather than constantly being reactive and always calling back rather than red or visa versa.

IDS doesn't know how to look after or care for human beings.

Agree about Ole though and I think even he could manage the covid crisis better than this mob!!

I'm not a big fan of Hunt but surely someone with the experience of being a health secretary would be in the cabinet at this time.

If they are thinking of changing Greater Manchester to tier 3 - then it's not based on the cases today - as I noted earlier GM had a lower % of the NW total today than in a while. So clearly a lower % of the UK than past few days too.

The deaths today were scary in the NW though. But they have been rising steadily for 2 weeks to that number so they cannot have been a shock. Ditto the big rise in patient numbers and ventilators today. But then they too have been the worst in the NW for weeks. Not sure if they were disproprtionately high to GM though. Maybe.

Today was bad day for both those numbers after a few better days in the NW, But it would surely be hard to say today changed everything in 24 hours that was not true over the weekend. Unless this is specific to GM.

May just be to reinfoerce the Starmer message as GM declining to go into tier 3 does not sit well with that proposal.

But how? Fines to me are a joke as some can hardly afford them as it is.

I’m not talking as much about individuals in each other’s houses for example but keeping pubs in order to protect the decent ones, businesses following regulations and people’s attitude on public transport. It’s seems pointless increasing more restrictive measures if a blind eye is being turned to the ones we already have.

I wouldn’t let anyone enter shops without a mask, a face shield or a doctors note. Same with public transport.

Pubs not following rules get shut down same as businesses. People can be employed to check on pubs and businesses. Transport can be told no one enters a bus or train without these measures.

You can use Covid marshalls(yet to see one) police even the army it’s possible to do. No more advisory shit. The government have been very weak almost to the point where i think it’s on purpose. This tier 2 and 3 nonsense isn’t going to drastically reduce anything.

Know many people close to me now who have it, seems to be everywhere. Having to not see my Dad now as just can’t risk it with me around people on the sites all week as well.

Late, late equaliser in the Christchurch v Dulwich Hamlet games. Some fans on the pitch hugging the players and getting in on the bundle

absolute idiots. I have just been to a non league game won’t say which bit the distancing was very poor and only a handful wearing masks. What I found more bizarre was the number of people I saw shaking hands! Madness.
