Noteworthy that testing capacity jumped today to 350k. Are we going to do something useful with it?

Closing down an industry and risking losing so many fucking jobs and messing up
Lives over 300 daily cases in Manchester and the numbers are already coming down. How the fuck can they make this decision based on the information they have it’s outrageous. When do we say enough is enough? Are we going to go in and out of lockdown every month for two weeks to pause the spread and let it carry on when people are allowed back out. Time for business owners in the north to stand up for themselves and refuse this nonsense
I realise that livelihoods are at risk but so are lives. It's a tough call. Doesn't matter what type of society you had. If it was run as a commune we'd still be shutting down communal activities because they drive the infection rate up.

You can control the epidemic if you want when it's on a plateau, if herd immunity is your aim, but once you're in a spike you've got to stop it otherwise in 3 weeks ICU will be full and people who'd survive with a bit of oxygen and care wont get it.

No one knew if wave 2 was going to materialise and how bad it would be but it looks like the virus is really very sensitive to environmental conditions so its natural R rate is increasing in the UK as Winter closes in and it's likely to get worse. It might come under control but it's sensible to assume the worst.

I don't know how accurate it is but there was some reports this morning out of Japan that humidity is a major driver and that if you keep humidity high you can reduce the time the virus remains airborne.

Seriously SAGE should be on that. Think if you are a supermarket, train operator, buildings manager. Quick win. They'd have to quantify it and check the science first.

The younger adult members of our communities need to get into reality, they really do. I work in care and EVERYONE abides by the PPE guidelines (gloves, mask, visor, apron), everyone that is except the young men, they just dont give a shit or more likely they just dont understand. They wont wear any of it and one of these old people they're looking after will die because of it.

Not all the young are like this but its true to say that of the ones who ignore the PPE requirements 95% of them are young stupid men

allways said it and continue to do so,when the house repossessions start and the rest of the shit hits the fan it will end up in national riots
Too many people living above their means won't help the situation. Everyone wants everything today instead of waiting till they can afford it.

There are many types of ventilation though , we have no idea who is on what
It does actually make quite a difference to the likely outcome, people on invasive mechanical ventilation had a much higher mortality than others in ITU who required other respiratory support.

Some **** tries taking my house if I don’t find a job after being in a successful business for the last 10 years but the decimation of the hospitality sector ruining it, I’ll be rioting at the least.

See the excess deaths plot from ONS posted above. Excess deaths are now approaching 60,000.

There is no other explanation for these.

I know you're in favour of a hardline lockdown but everyone knows that they estimate that have been tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths of other causes. There's your explanation.

Also noticed you're still claiming that the IFR may be 1%. Again you're just coming up with the most negative figure you can find and quoting that. It's nowhere near that.

Report them to whoever employs then and get them sacked

I remember quite early on a woman on some machine that was adapted from something else and it kept her off a ventilator , wish i remembered where i saw that

The bmj is a great source

I have you a Nature article to provide the reference for that.

Now, who to believe: reputable science journal showing data and analysis behind the number... ...or "True_Blue69"

Tough choices.
